New Tyranids Tier List- End of 8th edition

A looong time ago, a much more optimistic me made a tier list for all of our units. This list does not hold up to modern scrutiny.

So, before this is inevitably outdated, I figured I'd put together one before the turn of the edition, as a last horrah to... Another edition where it ain't easy being gribbly.

I find it funny how the Trygon and Prime are in E, but the Heirodules are in D. XD

Why not set thsi up after the new edition hits?

At least the Hierodules aren't hilariously fragile like the Trygon/prime?

Maybe the Mawloc can be situationally good but I don't fancy paying 100+ points to kamikaze at best 3 mortals wounds, and at worst, 0 mortal wounds into a conveniently mawloc-shaped hole in your enemy lines.

The dules arent much tankier for the points you pay for them, with less to no utility. Not much of a comparison - Dules are pretty bad outside of a sneaky double move advance T1 charge on a scythed dule, which is amusing and cheesy at best and embarassing at worst.

A Mawloc is very debatable - its value doesnt come in 1, it comes in 3, and it's in the value of sniping characters in more elite armies where you cant bubblewrap as easily while still getting map control. After that initial pop up it's just a body that needs to be killed before it continues to make itself a nuisiance, so your points value gain is pretty much measured against the pressure and potential sniping you get from investing 300 points into MC bodies that must be killed AFTER they've done their thing.

Second this ^^ at 25 points they're auto C grade in my book. 25p gets you a heavy flamer equivalent, with 3 wounds, a S5 power sword equivalent and 2 rules for potential mortal wounds.

The only reason this unit is bad, is because of how expensive they are and how difficult they are to get hold of. But that has nothing to do with how they play on the table top.

Exactly! They have been terrible since their inception, until 8th edition where they are finally a perfectly fine unit.

... and now 9th edition is probably going to make them much worse again, with the overwatch change.

Just pay a CP. Sadly, only 3 guys, would be great if they had 6.

Yes it would be nice to take them in bigger unit sizes because they fit well with 9th with all the choose range fighting.

Gargoyles aren't super awful. They can get across the board quickly.
