I'm playing a tournament game in a couple days against the following list:
Ad Mech (Air-Wing, Spearhead):
- 3x Archaeopter Fusilave (Chaff Launcher, 4x Cognis Heavy Stubber)
- Belisarius Cawl
- Tech-Priest Manipulus
- 3x Skorpius Disintegrator (Belleros Energy Cannon, 3x Cognis Heavy Stubber
- 2x Archaeopter Stratoraptor (Chaff Launcher, 2x Cognis Heavy Stubber, Twin Cognis Lascannon)
Imperial Fists (Vanguard):
- Primaris Chapter Master (Hand of Dorn, The Eye of Hypnoth)
- 2x Relic Whirlwind Scorpius (Scorpius Multi-launcher)
- 2x 4 Servitors (Servo-arms)
- 2x Thunderfire Cannon
My list is:
Hive Fleet Jormungandr (Battalion):
- Old One Eye
- Hive Tyrant (Heavy Venom Canon, Rending Claws, Catalyst, The Horror)
- 10 Termagants
- 2x 3 Ripper Swarms
- 6x Carnifex (Heavy Venom Canon, 2x Devourers, Bone Mace, Enhanced Senses, Spore Cysts)
Hive Fleet Kronos (Battalion):
- Neurothrope (Symbiostorm, Warlord)
- Hive Tyrant (Heavy Venom Canon, Rending Claws, Psychic Scream, Catalyst, Pathogenesis)
- 2x 10 Termagants
- 3 Ripper Swarms
- 6 Hive Guard (Impaler Canons)
- Exocrine (Dermic Symbiosis)
- 3 Spore Mines
I'd be happy with any advice anyone has, but here are some specific thoughts/ questions. I'm thinking I'll take Enhanced Resistance on the Hive Guard for 1 CP. For a second relic, I'm debating a Resonance Barb on either the Neurothrope or the Jormungandr Hive Tyrant, or the Venomthorn Canon on the Jormungandr Hive Tyrant. I'm leaning towards Resonance Barb on the Neurothrope at the moment for reliable Symbiostorm and higher probability of Super Smite... tough decision though.
The mission is ITC - I'm thinking I will take Recon, Big Game Hunter, and Marked for Death (and mark the two Archaeopter Stratoraptors and two of the Archaeopter Fusilaves). In terms of target priority, I'd like to kill the Stratoraptors, then the Disintegrators, then the Whirlwinds if possible, while smiting the Fusilaves, but not over-focusing on them to the point of ignoring other targets. I'm thinking the Fusilaves will be flying around near my deployment zone, so hopefully I can take them down with the help of smite spam. They don't need to die right away, just eventually. All the Archaeopters will be a bit annoying with their -1 to Damage and -1 to hit (both against shooting attacks). Smiting them is definitely most efficient. I'd love to get rid of the lascannons early though, but make sure I focus on Disintegrators before Fusilaves, because Fusilaves, though pesky, are low strength and not a huge threat to my army.
All the tanks are ignore line of sight (but they're mostly S6 guns, which is nice), so I'm thinking I'll push Carnifexes and Old One Eye forward to try to get sight (and eventually combat for OOE) on them. Possibly the Hive Tyrants too, and the Exocrine but don't want to lose the Hive Tyrants early. If I go first, I may also position Hive Guard fairly far forward (out of sight) to force enemy to deploy farther back.
Would love to hear any thoughts you have!
