So, cabin fever seems to have finally set in as while dawdling about on another forum reading up about 9th, I came across the fact that it seems putting units into tactical reserve will cost CP.
Now, if this means that in order to use any units inbuilt reserve rule (such as tyrannocytes, terminator teleportation etc) is going to cost 1 cp per unit for example, this seems unnecessarily harsh on armies like GSC that rely on deployment shenannigans.
However, when it comes to options as a wise old muppet once said "there is another..."
What if they are thinking of allowing you to choose ANY unit (or maybe any troops unit etc) that ordinarily has no reserve rule and pay a cost to reserve them? (though I imagine 50% must be deployed rule will still be in force)
In previous editions you have been able to hold units of the board should you wish to act as a kind of reserve guard so I could see where this could be coming from.
That idea then led to what is ultimately the point of the thread... if it indeed works in this way, then could we see the rise of what is quite possibly the most useless strategem in the entire game.
I refer of course to that perennial non-favourite... "Pheromone Trail"!!!!!!! (currently mostly useless as it can only be played on units already in reserve, so unless you play some kind of specific narrative mission it affects next to nothing that cant already drop outside of 9" such as gargoylesand spore mines).
Imagine it....3 or 4 Lictors dotted around the (apparently) improved terrain features and maybe a few small hit squads of stealers or even devilgaunts to spring upon unsuspecting prey??
Possible do you think?
Any better ideas?
Really need to find out more about this as it could be REALLY good for nids!!!!
