Figured it would be good to collect together a nice list of all the official books, lorebooks, rule books etc.. that all focus on our beloved Tyranids! Something that might prove useful to those after up to date reference material or looking for some background lore or just wanting to look at some older classic stuff. I've added those I'm aware of, please do feel free to add the ones you know of and I can edit them into the list to form a master list of references.
Current Rules:
Tyranid Codex 2017 8th edition - core army rules
Psychic Awakening: Blood of Baal - supplemental rules
FAQ/Errata documents from GW website:
Older Rules:
Tyranid Codex 2001 -- 3rd edition
Tyranid Codex 2005 -- 4th edition
Tyranid Codex 2009 -- 5th edition
Tyranid Codex 2014 -- 6th edition
Space Hulk
Two player corridor game pitting marines against Tyranids. Less lore here but a few bits in the books, though rule books for some editions might be hard to find and are honestly better bought as part of full sets (rules and models and boards). Note that some of the latter versions were only released as limited edition releases so stock can be hard to find.
Space Hulk Original: 1989
3 supplemental releases - Deathwing, Genestealer, Campaigns
Space Hulk 2nd edition 1996
Space Hulk 3rd edition 2009
Space Hulk 4th edition 2014
Valedor Warzone (rulebook)
Imperial Armour: anphelion project
Tyranid Attack boxed game (like spacehulk but inside a tyranid bioship)
Hive War Epic
Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, Battlefleets of the 41st Millennium
GW Digital legacy rules (note can also be found in paper/hardback editions secondhand). Note these often have old rules as well as lore/artwork
Leviathan
Exterminatus
Deathstorm
Black Library Lore books
Xenology (rare out of print - beg GW/BL to do another print run!)
Black Library Books/short stories
There are two major book collections (cheapest/most affordable way to buy) on the BL website. These are Shield of Ball and The Great Devourer. I list below the individual content and note the unique books for each one. Note that as they cover almost the same stories I'd recommend getting The Great Devourer and then picking up "A Son's Burden" on its own as its only a short story and thus fairly cheap.
Shield of Baal, includes the following:
Tempestus by Braden Campbell
The Word of the Silent King by L J Goulding
Wraithflight by Guy Haley
Dread Night by Nick Kyme
Devourer by Joe Parrino
Deathstorm and Shadow of the Leviathan by Josh Reynolds
A Son's Burden by Andy Smillie
Unique content not in The Great Devourer: A Son's Burden (short story)
The Great Devourer: The Leviathan Omnibus includes the following:
Valedor by Guy Haley
The Last Days of Ector by Guy Haley
Deathstorm by Josh Reynolds
Tempestus by Braden Campbell
Devourer by Joe Parrino
Wraithflight by Guy Haley
Shadow of the Leviathan by Josh Reynolds
The Word of the Silent King by L J Goulding
Dread Night by Nick Kyme
Unique content not in Shield of Baa: Valedor (only sold in eldar book sets not on its own); The Last Days of Ector (short story)
