GSC 7-1 4th place at CanCon

Didn't see this mentioned with all the LVO coverage eclipsing everything...

Lathouras took his MSU approach to GSC to a very impressive 7-1 record at CanCon this weekend. Looks like he lost to the eventual winner (running something akin to 'the list' of LVO but with TFC and less eliminators).

My guess is that this list fills the board with neophytes and then uses the no overwatch relic on the sanctus to free perfect ambush into things to stop the aco bomb from getting killed on overwatch. The two other bombs (bikes and neophytes with mining lasers) try to secure kills at the right time against the right targets.


I tried to play a list sort of like this early in the GSC book and I was terrible at managing everything but a really keen tactical player can definitely take advantage of basically all the tricks the gsc book has for every situation. I might also be totally off base on the above but that seems like what he was going for.

100% that's not the play, since the acos would then be failing a 9" charge. Probably just something to shut down annoying backfield units (e.g. TFC) or try and murder a squishy Character if someone leaves a small exposed hole.

Guess at the rest of the list: Neos flood the board for objectives (15 mans on board), decent amount of damage on stuff with mining lasers and double alphus (reserve), demo/acos take down a key target or two. Seems very ETC though...and I've found list to have the firepower to take down my aco swarm without combat shenanigans in a lot of match ups (though the mining lasers at least get around screening here).

That dagger is pretty strong. I would use one if I didnt need the Perfect Ambush elsewhere. I even magnetized my Sanctus just in case.

Tried it a few times, not that good honestly as the sanctus is too squishy and can easily die in return. I also magnetized and painted the dagger arm thinking, it would be good as 4AE, but honestly... I am also less and less a fan of the sniper sanctus, but at last his relic turns him into a real threat against certain armies

If this list and a gretchin list made it to the top spots, it is probably down to scenarios putting a lot of emphasis on board control rather than on the need to kill stuff. Or they just played without Kill Points. Kill points are important IMHO because you need to encourage players to not take 30 units or more in a 2000 list. It is horrible to see which model belongs to which unit in many cases, hough movement trays do help a lot for that...

And yet outside of ITC where kill points tend to not exist Hordes are not dominating.

Also as was asked before, this event used the ITC Champion missions, so same stuff as at the LVO.
