Biovores in competitive

So biovores have come back down to a reasonable cost, and it seems like being able to move block certain units like cents, levi dreads, and disco lords may be one of our better competitive options. My main concern is their durability. Anyone find that they’re quickly targeted by thunder fire cannons or other non LOS guns? Or is that a good thing because they’re not aimed at our juicier targets? Trying to finalize a list for my upcoming GT and wondering if I should go with 3, all 6, or none at all to put in more threatening units. Probably running a jorm gunline with buffed warriors and hive guard, podding an exo, etc.

If people shoot at Biovores with TFC then they're not shooting at Genestealers or Warriors. I wouldn't worry about their damage overly much, especially if you're in cover. 4D3 shots is average of 8, 7 hits with 2+, 5 wounds with S5 vs T4 and Biovores in cover will have a 4+ against it so that's 2.5 failed saves so on average you're looking at 2-3 wounds on a single biovore so not enough to kill one without good rolls. At 40 pts I think Bios are much more worth it, I'd say take more depending on your list, 6 would be good if you're going for a shooting army with support as 6 can block traffic or deal more reliable damage than 3 can, but do start to eat into points without other useful damage dealers.

They are using only a single TFC with 2 stratagems to hold 2 units of Genestealers. The others are free to shoot at your biovores (which are good but remember they are still 40 pts, almost the cost of an Assault Centurion)

Shoot my biovores then theyre not shooting my hiveguard. 6 blocks 15 inches of board space.

LOS blocker is my concern. How do you have enough Block to hide 6 Biovores, 6 HG, and GS/SL?

Genestealers are not the solution at their current point level

Spamming Genestealers should never be the answer. They're suppose to be a tool, not the end all be all.

That said, I'd be happy with a points drop...

I think 6 biovores is the way to go. If you only take 3 then there isn't enough spore mines to really block movement, and not enough damage to do anything significant. 6 Biovores with Kronos reroll for example could kill a TFC in a single round of shooting.

I’m planning on running jorm, so no stealers. Blob of ignore ap 1/2 warriors and ignore ap 1/2 hive guard

Depends a lot on terrain and what you are trying to block obviously. Disco lords, dreads, and knights can be blocked out by three if closing off channels between terrain. Against infantry threats it does get to where you kind of want 6 as you say

I like 3. They are a tech item and 240 is too many points to drop for them. Their damage output is just ok. I think 6 is too many. If you are going to go with 6 maybe go with 9.

9 is $450 kms.

I made mine out of plastif hive guard kits, theyre bigger profile but look like they belong in a nid army. I dont have the real models so if anyone ever had issues id just be down points in a tournament.
