Experiences of a mediocre player (ongoing)

I have a 30 man tournament coming up in a few weeks. 1k points, 1 patrol only. I'm thinking of taking stealer sling to the party and I'm not sure what hive fleet to run and what adaptations to take.
I was thinking to take the WL adaptation as the 2d6 consolidate and the other variable depending on match-ups (against a melee list i could see Merritt in the 6in HI).

The list is:
Sl
BL resonance barb
2*20 GS
16 termagants
3 venomthropes

The other question is kraken or behemoth. The extra power from unending hunger will be great against higher toughness targets but if i don't get into combat it doesn't matter. The third idea is to use the previewed traits (4++ to OW and reroll advance)

What do you guys think, do you have experience using GS sling post BoB?

Do you own any Tguard? I know its not a common guestion, but i feel that at lower point games they do better, especially with the ignore ap -1/2

I have three, i suppose I could swap them in for the venomthropes. I also thought about switching out the venomthropes for a few mate termagants and a lictor.

I stuck with the venomthropes. I went 1-2 with both losses against marines.

The first game was against adepteus mechanicus. The mission was vital intelligence
He had call, a daedelus, 3 Kastellan, a dune crawler, some infiltrators, 2 of the new transports and 2 ranger squads.

I won the roll off​ and choose to go second. I set up with both genestealers in hiding so that max two robots could see them after moving (or so i thought).
In the end the claw of one stealer was just visible to the third robot, which made the difference in wrong the squad with wrath of Mars. On the flip side he left call somewhat exposed.
On my turn i put UH on the remaining genestealer squad and got them in charge range of one of the boats in the middle of the board.
I double moved SL in range of call.
Both made their charges with the transport died and the stealers managed to trap call with 3 wounds left thanks to the 2d6 consolidate.

Turn two he moved his infiltrators to charge the genestealers and shoot at the gants with his troops. I'm the end call died and i win by like to points.

Next game was against Imperial fists. 2 TFC a chaplain, chapter master and a bunch of intercessors. I won the roll off and again choose to go second. The TFCs crippled one genestealer squad and the other one was too far away from swarmy. It was then just a case of getting as many points as i could. It ended 21-19 to him.

Third game was versus IH without chapter master. Instead he could spend 3 CP on double shooting tremor shells. That was basically that.

The layout was as above the [] being ruins # is impassable LOSB and . are the objectives. There were some hills and maybe forests in the middle. I placed one GS squad at 1 and everything else at 2. I should have put the termagants at 1 instead.
SL doule moved himself instead and managed to charge and kill some intercessors holding his home objective. He then managed to block enough shots for the BL to hold it a second time.


Edit: the map didn't show as i had hoped basically the two ruins were in the corners of the map and the impassible LOSB was right of center
