if you do mix a detachment you don't get the "cult" benefit so for example the bladed cog models don't get the 6++, the 4AE ones don't get the +1 to charge etc.  The reason you do this is because they can use all the stratagems associated with their cult however.  So the 4AE ones can use our version of vect.  Plus bubbles and things that effect a "cult" still work.  So you can have a patriarch in a mixed detachment giving fearless to another detachment as long as the patriarch and the other detachment share the same "cult".

Yep, this is also why the 'mixed' detachment tends to hold Brood Brothers for Troops since they don't get a cult anyway (and you actually want a Creed effect on Acolytes and Neophytes)
