Plasma blowing up on 2's

Hey hive, ive seen on many different battle reports that plasma can blow up on a 2 if shooting at a neg1 modifier....can anyone give me the rules that state this?

You check for effects after all rerolls and modifiers have been calculated. Otherwise what are the point of modifiers?

The guys i play at my flgs say its only on a natural roll of 1.....

This is also why bubble characters make plasma so good: you can overcharge with relative impunity

jormungandr wont be doing anything. It gives cover, not hit-penalties.

Now, Concealed Alaitoc Rangers on the other hand...

Lictors get a +2 for cover rather than just +1. Since they're always in cover, except when they charge or advance (or some special rule etc) then they're Sv3+.

Yeah, and why is their armor save relevant to a discussion about to-hit modifiers?


On topic: don't forget to remind your opponent that their plasma also blows up on 2s whey they moved with a Heavy weapon or advanced with an Assault weapon. And modifiers stack of course, so Plasma Cannon that moved, unit affected by The Horror, shooting something under Shrouding Sporesr: blowing up on 2s to 4s

Because anything that increases the difficult in killing something is good. It's why Massive Crushing Claws are better than Massive Scything Talons, because wounding T1-6 things on a 2+ and T7-11 things on a 3+ vastly outweights wounding T1-3 on 2+, T4-5 on 3+, T6 on 4+, and T7-11 on 5+. Similarly stacking both to hit bonuses and armour saves both increases the chance of plasma gunners dying and protecting the model they might be attacking.
