I have a bit of cognitive dissonance over how Astra Militarum with their spam of tons of units, multiple brigades, etc was hailed as the top tier army, and how the army that deployed first went first was terribly unfair.

I understand that going first is incredibly important, but surely so is having 15 CP instead of say 6.

Can someone explain the logic to me? Were the top tier armies always going first due to deploying first?

When an army that consists of Magnus, the super chicken, and a unit of brimstone horrors is only vulnerable to not going first goes first 100% of the time, well, I'll let you fill in the gaps there man.

Had zero to do with guard. Has to do with high value-low unit count armies. The only things they're all weak toons dying before either shooting you off the table or powering up *then* shooting you off the table.

I would even go a step further and say that it was something you could build your list around, knowing you'd go first would allow you to play MUCH more aggressively with your elite army.

Guard is an anomaly. You can't compare anything to Cruddex's baby.

Really good Powers
Best shooting
Really good assault
Best Tanks/Arty

Only army that ignores 2/3 degrade penalties (track guards are the stupidest upgrade in 40k, and not a single tank cares about losing A.)

Chaos is probably more powerful, but I haven't seen Primarchs in action. Cultists are IMO best horde unit in the game by far.

Aah see I've never faced the chaos primarchs so only had theory. I knew they liked the Warp time up and get in your grill but that was about it.
