Frontline/bulldozer MC brainstorming

So I’m not an experienced modeller, but I’d love to try and make a centrepiece for my (slowly growing) tyranid army. I think conceptually my favourite idea is a bulky, armoured beastie akin to a rhino (animal) with large armour plates (either on his arms or shoulders) extending to the sides. The idea is that it stomps forward ahead of the army (minus the alpha strike) and provides mobile cover or blocking bonuses. I’m not really asking for a rules set, as I will almost certainly not be using this in actual games. Thinking more the aesthetic and modelling side of it.

Please post ideas and suggestions (along the lines of models I could convert, features I could add, similar conversions, etc) that could help me design and build this critter - I really don’t have the experience or imagination to not mess this up xD

take the haruspex or tyrranofex kits as a base. go nuts.

Actually a better way to describe it may be a huge tyrant guard ramming creature - blocking the nids behind him with sheer bulk and plating.

And the tfex (especially the underbelly) is quite slim and sleek - I’m definitely going for a chunky look. I was thinking exocrine maybe but I don’t actually have much of an idea...

What about an exocrine as base for the bulky feeling, then take the Tyrant Guards model as a standpoint for the creature.

Just add massive amounts of carapace to make a sort of living battering ram and it could work out really nice imo

Haruspex/Exocrine limbs are definitely more bulky than T-fex/Tervigon. Main body is also huge.

You may laso try to spot live specimen of Toxicrene/Maleceptor. Not the most popular beast out there but it does kind of look like a Rhino

Of course You can sculpt over bits or just make parts/whole model Yourself.

Exocrine is actually a really good shout! Squat, stumpy, and strong looking. I’d only have to extend the carapace to the sides and up, give him a tyrannofex/Tervigon head (probably tyrannofex for the rhino spike), and change the front arms to be either muscular or have shield-like carapace attached to it.
