I was giddy with excitement and began furiously typing into the Tactics board about all the fantastic little tweaks to all the varied and majestic forms of Tyranid to be had competitively, when I realized...

This was never going to be in Matched Play.

However, this is still a topic that got creative juices flowing- what would the honorable Hive want added to the fluffed masters of adaptation?

In all seriousness our line is bloated strictly from a gaming standpoint, but I digress.

In-game mechanics, lore background, actual ideas for conversions et-cet-e-ra.

Starting off I've always liked the concept of the Tervigon: endless swarm and organic renewal on the battlefield, all of that good jazz.

Termagants are fine, but they're not alone in the disposable troops category.

Enter the Horvigon. Originally I thought of it as the frame of a Tervigon coupled with improved close combat potency, though with reduced ability at range with neutered casting and shooting- visualize a functionally elongated Carnifex that coughed up Hormagaunts and had Flamespurts or Toxicrene tentacles mounted where the spikes are on the model currently.

Its background would be as a voidship boarding creature; the cramped corridors not being prime fields for long range. That, or as a general breacher of fortifications.

I mentioned original, didn't I? Continuing the breacher idea, the "Rippergon" (WIP name, this annoys me to no end) is essentially a Mawloc in reverse: The torso given over to birthing sacs for, ofcourse, Rippers. Tides of them. The last Conscripts leap out of the fire-points as "Fix Bayonets!" didn't go off, in an utterly hopeless endeavour to stop being tied up.

That's my need for expression spent. Have fun picking it apart lads.

How about Stealers, BUT with Devourers, Scything Talons, 3+ save and ability to "deep strike"? You may add ability to explode on death in melee...

It would probably be made redundant by Genestealer cult ambushing, but whatever.

Couple of ideas for this: first, some kind of rhino looking beastie (with large armour plates that stick out to the sides) that can be used as cover? Just thought it’s be neat to see a few of those crawling towards you with gribbly swarms behind... Haven’t thought out modelling/sketching it. Maybe something rhino-like (the animal, not the tank )

Second idea is some kind of transport? We have lots of deep strike(/tunnelling) and some spawning, but no MCs dedicated to carrying troops. Maybe deploying dudes like the sky whales from the first Avengers film?
Edit: or a large toothless mouth where the troops can emerge from; imagine a Tervigon with a big, low to the ground head and a bulked our body and carapace. The gribblies inside wait for the mouth to drop open (would have to be big!) then come swarming out.

And then a different flyer. I don’t mind the model of the hive crone/harpy, but they’re a tiny bit dumpy almost? Quite round, not much to them except a fat little body and head. Also fighting against my friends marines (he uses average 3 flyers a game) makes me realise how few air and anti air options we have... thinking something fast, V. melee orentated, and sleek, meant for engaging enemy flyers (and tanks??)

Let me know thoughts and opinions, interested to hear other ideas as well...
