That's cool. I think all these rules are good. "Objective secured" kind of messes up my Vanguard-Spearhead lists, but it's nice to have a convincing reason to invest in Troop choices. I also like the changes to 1st turn determination.

I'd like to point out that this book will be ready by Christmas. Assuming they have the finished product ready for print (which is a safe assumption given what was in the article) it tells us a few things.

First is that it takes about three months to get these books printed and shipped for release. This is assuming that "by Christmas" actually means some time in November for Christmas shopping. If "by Christmas" literally means by Christmas then that would put the print time around four months.

This also shows the turnaround time to create a book is around four to six weeks. This is assuming that they've only taken into account player feedback ant tournament results. However, if these problems were present in playtesting then this book could have been in the works for three to six months. You'd have to ask the playtesters at FLG what they rules they were playtesting with to know for certain.

I feel like releasing tweaks, bug fixes, updates, to the core rules in a new book is a bit of a kick to those who just bought the £35 full rulebook. I wonder if these updates will be free/discounted for people who've bought the ebook etc.

We don't know what all is going to be in the chapter approved book, but they announced chapter approved would return before 8th edition dropped. I suspect they have been slowly working on while doing the rest of 8th and added those additional rules as feedback from the edition has hit.

They announced annual rule updates like the generals books in AoS. Though now that you mention it, it does seem odd that they needed their annual update less than two months after their flagship game launched.

My previous post was mearly pointing out the lag time between GW development and printing.

FW is banned for tourneys where I play, yeah. Will get some FW models anyways for regular play, but I am new to the hobby, so one thing at a time. Bought the Venomthropes before the FW Index dropped. Bit of a bummer, but I really like the models, and for smaller games they work fine.

Chapter approved, it's like the general's handbook for 40k.

Sounds like they are going to update the matched play rules before it actually comes out.
