Update for the Vs. threads

As many of the veterans know, with the release of a new edition or codex we update the corisponding Vs. thread.
This time is a little different as the release of a new edition means that all the threads will need to be redone. More than that, the new edition is so radically different that it has rendered all the old Vs. threads obsolete.
The old timers here know that we usually wait a month or two before after a release before we post a new Vs. thread. This is to let everybody get a couple game in and have some real world experience playing the army. This way people have real questions about how to play against the army instead of theoretical questions and others can answe with real experience instead of theoryhammer.
The tentative date for the new Vs. threads will be at the end of July or the beginning of August, depending on when I have the time.
However, as we have no Vs. threads at the moment I'm tempted to make a few temporary Vs. threads next week if I get the time. If you guys want me to then let me know. Also, if there are any priority ones that need to be made (like the Vs. Space Marine thread) let me know so I can get to them first.

Thanks for the update Yori. While I feel having a few temp threads could be good, we'd stmill get a ton of "how do I vs X" in a lot of other places. Lets leave-off the temps for a bit so we can all chat about stuff. This really is a whole new ballgame, so even the vets could do with some time and space to mull things over and get those games in. I think having a month or two to experiment and play around would be great for the community as a whole.

There'll be changes with each codex being released but I think the crux of each army will more or less stay the same, so it's probably safe to start up the new generation of threads now.

Seems like there has been a big enough shakeup that most/all of the old 8E threads are obsolete. I imagine the timeline would likely be post-codex since ours releases relatively soon. |

Yeah, we usually wait about 4-6 weeks after a major update before we update the vs. threads. We like for people to have some experience before posting on the vs. threads so the first few pages aren’t just guessing what works.
Though with the slow rollout of 10th edition and the quickly approaching arrival of the tyranid codex do we need something sooner?
