Ok, the fleshy vents on the lower body:
1. Get some Instamould (plastic that will become soft in hot Water and harden Again once it cools to room temperature, makes for good imprints of various details) and your tentacle Tool (basically just a polycarbonate (?) plate with some ridges)
2. Make a copy of the tentacle tool with the instamould. Make sure that the copy is thin so it will bend
3. choose a suitable point on the lower body and cut 1-2mm into it where the vent should be (I did not cut deep enough and they will look dumb sticking out once the model gets painted).
4. Put a thin layer of GS onto your cut and pres the instamould copy into it. This should leave a nice ridged imprint in the GS and since the Instamould bends, it will follow a round body.
5. Allow to harden after you clean up and leave a Little room for the rim inside the cut (Again, I did not do this too well)
6. Make a very thin roll of GS, about 1mm across. Put it where you want the rim of the vent to be.
7. Carefully press Down and outwards on the outer side of the roll, with a wet Tool, of course. This should both blend the rim into the surrounding body surface and leave a smooth, round rim around the vent. Do this all over and allow to harden
8. For extra credit on the malanthrope, make small cuts into the rim to make it look damaged or irregular like on the original. I did not do this, but would probably do it if I made another go at a kit-bash malanthrope.
This should be fairly easy to copy as not too much actual skill is involved
AHA! cool! Turns out everyone is more talented than me ...they're also smarter
Thanks for the tutorial vejby I'm excited about getting a malanthrope of my own going soon
