fluff not reflected in our rules: the state of our codex in general. Actually, we always lose in the end. So it's pretty accurate...

I've been using onslaught to move to get my twin linked devourers into a facing that hasnt got its shield.
Also the lance you can just surround them and fire at the knight that's got its shield facing the other way.
Lastly ending your movement straddling their armour facing is woth while for getting around the shield. Depending how it's ruled TO to TO you either then get the choice of which facing you target or a roll for it. Even if they get to roll for it it means they would then have to pass two 4+.
I personally believe if there is two possible target facings then it would be the shooting players choice as they would both be viable targets.
Basically we are reduced to tickling the Knights down.
Forcing them to enter ruins is great as it slows them a lot and a charge from a couple of Carnifex should finish one off if it gets desperate. The plus side is generally they can't deal with our flying MCs.

Just beat a knight yesterday with a single flyrant and a warp blast from my Swarmlord.

ok just checked and he had the ion shield rules backwards, he was changing it on every one of his own shooting phases and apparently it's supposed to change on mine.

Just a thought, running flying circus and taking full tyrant guard broods with crushing claws for each flyrant, if they manage to drop a tyrant they just get better.

Issue is the cost of the guards.

Also, Blind Rampage only kicks in if the Tyrant dies while attached to the Guard. They're not somehow "linked" to the Tyrant that unlocked them if they're not actually Joined.
And Crushing Claws are Unwieldy, too, which gives a Knight more of a chance than I'd like to drop all three Guard in a given group before they get to strike.

So to sum up all 4 pages of this thread:
1) Manoeuvre your brainleech devourers into multiple arcs of the Knights so as some of the firepower ina single turn avoids the shield;
2) Apply 1) above but with flyrants and e'grubs
3) Tarpit with lots of gargs/gants/gaunts
4) Gift Wrap (Surround) the Titan to restrict its' movement and limit it's firing options
5) Brain your opponent whilst they are looking the other way then hide the Knights a few blocks away for good measure and feign innocence when your opponent regains conciousness.
Did we really need 4 pages for stating the bloody obvious?

I would add: If you've got it, take advantage of the fact that Warp Lance fires during the Psychic Phase, before he has time to reposition the Ion Shield. If it's on Flyrants or Podded 'Thropes, that can do some significant damage from an unshielded angle.

I have an Imperial knight, and my friend plays tyranids, and he had the idea of trying to glance them to death in CC with genestealers. don't know if that would work in 7th, but i think it does in 6th. I still imagine it being quite hard to remove 6hp when you need to roll a 6 to wound, and you would have to effectively destroy a group of genestealers every time you went into CC. But i suppose if you destroyed 1 knight, you could damage the others...

It would take 9 stealers on average to remove 1 hull point, assuming you managed to assault in open terrain so could go first. Surviving long enough to remove all 6... Eh.

I killed one with a single Dakka Flyrant, a Mawloc, 2 Zoanthropes and a Lictor.
Edit: the Mawloc and one 'thrope died in the process but it went up in a terrific explosion.
