Vs IG v7.0 (both Astra Militarum and Militarum Tempestus)

7th edition is here. Now that is has been out for a while it is time for us to combine our knowledge and share what we have learned.
This thread is for everything we know about Astra Militarum and Militarum Tempestus armies (from now on called IG like they should be). If you know something about the strategies that IG players use, or units to watch out for, or how the meta is developing with IG, or popular ally choices, or units you’ve had success with, or anything else that will help fellow nid players do well against IG then we’d love for you to share it here.
This is for serious discussion about IG armies only. As such, flaming will not be tolerated, if you’re going to debate then use facts and don’t break down into make calling or other such nonsense. Also, this isn’t the place for army list reviews; please take those to the appropriate board. And as always, the moderators reserve the right to delete any off topic replies or inappropriate responses.

Unfortunately, Biovores no longer Pin unless they're part of a Living Artillery Node. Barrage in general doesn't anymore, neither do Sniper Weapons.

What vehicles should I look out for? What are their armour values and hull Points?

Wyverns are probably the nastiest Vehicles Guard have right now. Fragile, just 12/10/10, but they don't need LoS, so they can hide, and can dish out horrendous damage to Infantry Units.
Hydras are less common, but can really mess up your Harpies/Crones. Same chassis.
Leman Russ Punishers are much more common now with the Points Drop they got, and you'll often see one with Pask in it for Preferred Enemy and Rending on the main gun. 14/13/11 makes them pretty tough, probably a good target for your Haywire.
All IG Vehicles have 3HP except Sentinels, which are just 2.

Im looking for some advice. My mate usually plats eldar and is a real Whiner that keeps going on and on about how cheesy nids are since venomthropes are so super super op. He also has an Astra militarum army that he keeps saying will destroy any nids i bring.
I had my second 40k game ever against his IG army and he Said he had an easy to beat list. Now in this game he had a full pask squad kitted out. The entire army in vehicles (min size vet squads with meltas and all that in chimeras for troops) and heavy tanks with hydras and mortar tanks with ignore cover str6 in the back. I still completely crushed him even though i had no idea what i was doing. Now ever since he Said that list was super friendly and so on and that with a normal 80 pt hq he can give his entire army ignore cover on all their shots. Go to ground get back up. Extra shots and so on.
So is this actually true? Can a normal Astra hq give the ignore cover order to every singel unit all the time even when camping in a transport? How are the actual rules for Astra? I want to let him go all out and then crush him.

The Company Commander can only issue Orders to two Units per Turn. Now, depending on his Build, this might functionally be all his Infantry Units, but yeah, two Orders per Turn, each providing one effect to one Unit. One of the Warlord Traits gives him another, and there might be a Relic that boosts it, too. Can't remember.
He can issue them from within a Chimera, because it has a special Command Vehicle Rule, but not from within any other Vehicle or a Building.
And yeah, what he was running does sound like a not too scary IG List. Mech Guard isn't really a thing anymore, since Vehicles got worse in general and then the IG Transports got more expensive on top of that. A Yarrick Blob, Pask Command Squadron, a couple of Wyverns, and a couple of Vendettas for Anti-Air can still make for a pretty strong force, tho.

Do not have codex; but do t you have to purchase the command vehicle upgrade to issue orders out of that chimera?

Nope. I think you might be able to purchase it for some of the Super-Heavy Transports, but Chimerae come with it automatically.

Astra Militarum is another mean army. The strongest list I have ever play against was commander Pask in punisher with extra punisher. Couple large blobs of guards and conscripts. Every blob have priest (fearless, war hymnes), primaris psyker and star blob has inquisitor (ld10) or coteaz. Now priests can cast prescience on punishers (they can split fire) so every tank has 20 twinlinked shots with S5 (pask has rending) and preferred enemy. Prescience can be combined with first rank fire second rank fire for insane number of twinlinked shots. Psykers can cast other powers like 4++, full ballistic skill overwatch and counter attack on blobs to make it almost unbeatable in CC. Note that war hymnes can cause rerolls to wound, or reroll inv saves from psychic power or rerolls to hit, if prescience was cast on different unit. This list also includes wyverns and can be backed up with IK.
My idea is to use mawlocs to snipe out coteaz, platoon command squads, heavy weapon squads, psykers, priests. It is also worth waiting for later turns when blobs of infantry will spread out for objectives. Now it will be perfect time to get to pask rear armour with tyrants.

After a few terrible games against the squishy might of man I have now had to resort to direct drop assaults and such. Trygons, mawlocs, tyranocyte tervigon drops, lictor based deepstrike tunnels etc. The sustained order fire and the tendency for guard to bunch for effect for me has lead to real difficulty committing to open long board engagements. With the blitzkrieg style of landing right in the lines, most IG commanders falter. Only way i have had much of a hope so far. Anyone else had any mid/long ranged engagement success?

Our main long-range tool against Blob Guard is Biovores. As long as you can take out the Wyverns first, those'll do a real number on massed Guard. Otherwise, yeah, anything you've got to close the distance while taking as little damage as possible.
