Yeah, I 20-0'd a GK/SM build with 3 Dreadknights and podded Centurions the other day. Felt really solid.

Last weekend I played 2 quick 500 point games with 2 of my mates (one CSM the other DE/Harlequins) with this list:
+++ whuuu? (500pts) +++
++ Tyranids: Codex (2014) (Combined Arms Detachment) (500pts) ++
+ HQ (240pts) +
Hive Tyrant (240pts) [Electroshock Grubs (10pts), Powers of the Hive Mind, Psyker (Mastery Level 2), Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms (15pts), Twin-linked Devourer with Brainleech Worms (15pts), Wings (35pts)]
+ Troops (60pts) +
Mucolid Spore Cluster (15pts) [Mucolid Spore (15pts)] Mucolid Spore Cluster (15pts) [Mucolid Spore (15pts)] Mucolid Spore Cluster (15pts) [Mucolid Spore (15pts)] Mucolid Spore Cluster (15pts) [Mucolid Spore (15pts)]
+ Heavy Support (200pts) +
Sporocyst (100pts) [5x Barbed strangler (25pts)] Sporocyst (100pts) [5x Barbed strangler (25pts)]
Basically, though the tyrant felt pretty overpowered for the scenario, it was basically... Can't shoot the tyrant? Go get the Sporos... wait... never ending mines and loads of pie plates. G'Fn'G
Needless to say I felt dirty... satisfyingly dirty

I've been meaning to test pod spam with Barbed Stranglers for a while, and I'm thinking about something like this;
Bastion – Comms Relay Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler
Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Venomthrope
Mucolid Mucolid
Hive Crone Hive Crone
Dakkafex Dakkafex Dakkafex
Sporefield formation Mucolid Mucolid Mucolid 3 Spore Mines 3 Spore Mines 3 Spore Mines
2000 points
It drops 2 pods empty which doesn't feel optimal, but it's solid when it comes to going second, which is vital.
Second version;
Bastion – Comms Relay
CAD Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler Tyrannocyte – Barbed Strangler
Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Venomthrope
Ripper Swarm, deepstrike Ripper Swarm, deepstrike
Dakkafex Dakkafex Dakkafex
CAD Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Mucolid Mucolid Dakkafex, Spine Banks Dakkafex, Spine Banks
2000 points
More meat in this list with one Dakkafex for each of the five pods, but going second feels shaky without Sporefield. One drawback when really spamming pods is that it's hard to fit in more than a couple of Flyrants, you run out of points really fast. Still, needs play testing. I have a Bastion waiting to be assembled.

Still waiting for a chance to test my pod list above, but I've been play testing my tournament list for an upcoming event.
Further down the road some friends of mine plans to host an ITC tournament this autumn, and I'm eagerly anticipating using Forgeworld models for the very first time! Dropping down to 1850 point levels.
One possibility is to just go with boring dakka. If I would, it would probably look like this:
CAD Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Malanthrope Malanthrope
Mucolid Mucolid
2 Dakkafex 2 Dakkafex 2 Dakkafex
CAD Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Mucolid Mucolid
1850 pts. 108 twinlinked S6 shots.
Other, more probable list would be a fluffy cc oriented include at least one Dimachaeron;
CAD Meleerant - Wings, Whip/Sword & ScyTals, Adrenal Glands, Old Adversary Meleerant - Wings, Whip/Sword & ScyTals, Adrenal Glands, Old Adversary
Malanthrope Malanthrope
Mucolid Mucolid
Dimachaeron Dimachaeron 10 Gargoyles
2 Dakkafex 2 Dakkafex
Sporefield formation
1850 pts

I ended up putting together a swarm list, after inspiration from topax on these boards. Played a guy yesterday, I told him 1850 points, 3 sources, ITC restrictions. When I arrived he whipped out his list - 3 IK's and a Flyer formation. 6 models in his army. This would be interesting. Edit - I just learned that Battlescribe has an error. Apparently Endless Swarm has 3 units of Termagants (not 2), they've had 2 years to correct it but haven't bothered. Still, nice that it's better than I thought. Swarm of SpoonsFlyrant, 2 TL Devourers Flyrant, 2 TL Devourers Malanthrope Malanthrope Malanthrope Mucolid Mucolid Trygon Prime Trygon Prime Endless Swarm 10 Hormagaunts 10 Hormagaunts 10 Hormagaunts 10 Termagants 10 Termagants 3 Warriors Endless Swarm 10 Hormagaunts 10 Hormagaunts 10 Hormagaunts 10 Termagants 10 Termagants 3 Warriors 115 models, 1845pts My opponent had some kind of IK formation with two really shooty ones (12 shot AP3 Gatlings, 2 S8 pie plates, Stubbers, Skyfire, heavy flamers) and one Forgeworld knight with some kind of Destroyer Lance weapon. He claimed that the IK's could overwatch when another IK within 12" got charged. His other models were a formation with a Storm Raven and two other Flyers with AV 11 and 2 hull points each. I wouldn't realistically be able to hurt the knights, so I went for the objectives. It was a mix of maelstrom, eternal war objectives, kill points and First Blood/Warlord/Linebreaker. I rolled no Catalyst or Paroxysm unfortunately, at least I got a Warp Blast. I was able to jam a corridor between two impassable terrain with Gants, make it hard to push through two knights. On the other side I used Hormagaunt run moves to constantly block movement for the knights and stall him from taking objectives. My Flyrants took out all his Flyers. Game ended turn 5 when he had way more kill points plus First Blood but I had the lead on Tactical Objectives, Linebreaker and Eternal War. 15-5 win for Nids. I had really bad luck on Endless Swarm rolls, failed 7/9. Also tactical objective draws favoured him, often getting objectives he was already standing on with knights. I have 9 synapse units and it didn't feel like too much, so I'm happy with the list. Was my first time using Trygon Holes, I learned some things from this game. Will deepstrike them more spread out next time. Next time I will also have two more Gant units

I was thinking about endless swarm lately, but without trygons. I still think trygons are overpriced and I don't think the prime version is that required. My idea about endless swarm is to counter drop pod armies - now I can deploy with flyrants and have hormagaunts nearby ready to assault next turn (still don't know if it is good idea, I used wraiths for that purpose, they worked), have some arguments against necrons (can tie up things in CC, with proper synapse support), can do some mealstroms and what is most important, can catch late game objectives, especially those near my table edge. Formation is far cheaper than skyblight and don't have tax units, well warriors maybe, but their synapse support is quite useful here. I still want to use 4 flyrants and the bastion. This is my sample list I just build, so I guess it will changein the near future CAD1: flyrant flyrant 2x mucolid venomthrope CAD2: flyrant flyrant mucolid ripper swarms - deepstrike 3xlictor bastion with comms Endless swarm: 3x hormagaunts (with toxin sacs) 3x termagants - optional toxins warriors - optional barbed strangler maybe some spore mines in CAD. Idea is to deploy either venomthrope or warriors in bastion. In this case I have safe shroud or synapse source. Flyrants are swooping and provide support from air, gaunts are running for mealstroms, some may be held in reserves to arrive later, dead gaunts try to come back. Distant objectives are for lictors and rippers and in later turns hive tyrants. I konw this is not ideal list, I got to test it first, but if You have any thoughts about it feel free to comment

I have no idea, maybe you could get some early synapse issues with the swarm if you want to have your Flyrants surround the bastion, if someone manages to take out Warriors it could be bad. But take it for a spin and let us know how you fared.

So, back from this autumn's Fantasia Fanatic. Was a great even as usual, 80 40K players, many highranked ETC team members among them. Restrictions were; 2000 points, 2 sources, no digital-only formations, no Forgeworld, max 1 Wraithknight, max 3 repeats of anything in the army except Troops and dedicated transports. 5 matches swiss, scored from 0-20 points, using a mix of Maelstrom, Eternal War, Killpoints, First Blood, Warlord, Linebreaker. Only thing that differed between the games were how many points you got from each category. 3 games Dawn of War, 2 Vanguard.
I ended up bringing the list I posted on a previous page:
'Triples'
Bastion, Comms Relay
CAD Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Venomthrope Lictor Lictor
Ripper Swarm, deepstrike Ripper Swarm, deepstrike
Hive Crone Hive Crone Hive Crone
Mawloc Mawloc Mawloc
CAD Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Ripper Swarm, deepstrike Mucolid
1995 points
Match 1 Skitarii/AdMech. Awesome start, getting to play something completely new and different. 20-0 win.
Match 2 Eldar. Seer Council on foot, WK, D-artillery, Jetbikes, Scouts, 3 Flyers and some more stuff. 16-ish warp charges, Invis and so on.
He showed a lack of understanding when he chose to go first, but his WK put the D on my Bastion to remove it from the game turn 2, at which point I was sweating a bit, still most of my reserves still arrived. One thing I've noticed is that even experienced players sometimes make the mistake in Vanguard deployment that they forget that reserves can arrive from the whole table edge. My Crones and Flyrants made short work of his left flank, with some help from Mawlocs. Mawlocs were MVP's this game, taking out his artillery and Lictor-guided killing Jetbikes in close combat, and removing other Bikes to contest an objective last turn. In the end he only had the Seer Council, WK and a Flyer left. (We had a misunderstanding were I thought his Flyers were AV11 (they are AV10)) which probably cost me a few game points as I was shooting more than I had to at them. 14-6 win.
Match 3 Harlequins. This was great, another first time for me. He had a really cool army with lots of units, lots of dudes on foot in big units, plus several units of Jetbikes and Skimmers, plus wonky and scary psychic powers, lots of warp charges. I gave away some points in this game because I was a bit perplexed about his army and what it could do. I should have just deployed all my flyers on the board and cruised along my table edge back and forth while removing his units as they advanced. Instead I met him half way on the table and was forced to jink from a boatload of rending shots, which slowed down my damage output too much. One of the little guys on foot took out my Bastion in cc, Harlequins have that cool oldschool rending (automatically rends/glances on a roll of 6 to hit in combat). Much lol was had when one of his Psykers charged a Mucolid and died from its explosion (he though it only happened when it charged enemies, not when it was charged). Another thing that kept him in the game was his 5++ invo saves rerolling 1’s. He was 5+-ing like a champ, mishaping my Mawlocs and denying kill points everywhere. And basically everything I had on the ground died. Still, I focused down his mobility first, Jetbikes and Skimmers, and my shooting was too much for him to take, but we ran out of time in turn 5 before I could clean up. 15-5 win.
Match 4 Mirror match, kind of. Tyranids – Skyblight, Bastion with Comms, CAD with Flyrants and lots of minsized Genestealer units to outflank on objectives. I won the roll to chose to go second, and secured myself around the Bastion. Not much happened, no one wanted to commit before turn 5 when he had to make a run for it to claim a 5 point maelstrom card (control all objectives). He failed which put me in a great spot, but I couldn’t take down his FNP Warlord in spite of 3 vector strikes (whereof 1 from a Crone) and 12 Devourer shots.
In my turn I made a big mistake and instead of assaulting a landed Harpy with a Mawloc (and Smash it to death) I made a pointless assault on a Lictor and even failed to kill it. Should’ve Smashed. The Harpy contested one of the Eternal War objectives. I also forgot to move Rippers in my last movement phase, which cost me a failed charge, kill point and objective. I had lost very little, but only scored a 11-9 win.
Match 5 As bad luck would have it, I was paired against my friend that I always play against back home. We had roughly the same scores and we knew we were pretty evenly matched, so we debated grabbing a draw and chill, but I felt I’d rather play a real game and see how high placings we could get, instead of regretting later that we didn’t make a run for it. So we threw down. He had his triple IK’s (baronial court) with Khorne Demonkin (Flesh Hounds, Bikers). He grabbed the first turn because he thought he could put some good damage on my Flyers and Bastion, but only managed a couple of wounds (2+ save is nice). It turned out to be a pretty good game for Nids, but again I made a few mistakes that cost me some nice tournament points. I managed to take out everything in his army except 2 IK’s, he had his Warlord knight alive with a single hull point, when I still had one Flyrant left in his un-shielded flank. But instead of doing the obvious – shooting my Haywire flamer – I chose to shoot 12 Devourer shots, and failed to produce a single 6. Doh! And I forgot to put a Hive Crone on an Eternal War objective. Still a good game, I was in pretty good shape with 3 Flyrants, 1 Crone and 2xRipper swarms alive. 11-9 win.
My scores gave me a #9 finish, it was won by Swedens highest ranked player who had Baronial Court IKs and marines with Centurions, Tigerious, pod and TFC’s.
Still I’m pretty happy with my results, 5 straight wins and a fun weekend.

Yeah, there are other tournaments, but this one has been 2K for many years. In a couple of months we'll be hosting an 1850pt tournament with ITC restrictions, looking forward to field a couple of Malanthropes and Dima.

Btw, the Tyranid player from my fourth game got a good matchup the last match and 20-0'd himself to 81 points, a 5th place and best Tyranid player (I had 71 points). Those Genestealers worked really well for him. Along with superscoring Gargoyles he had lots of ObSec units which payed off, since the Eternal War mission parts had lots of points.

I'm glad to hear that genestealers worked Most people tend to use them at CC, while they true effectiveness lies in objective game, especially with comms relay.

Our 1850pts ITC tournament was downgraded to 1500pts because of time restraints, so I'm trying to find a new build that I like. Not necessarily a tournament winning build, and I'm dying to get to field me some Forgeworld. I'll use this thread to gather my builds for my own convenience as an easy reference.
-------------------------------
Go-to build - single CAD
Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Malanthrope Malanthrope
Mucolid Mucolid Mucolid
Dimachaeron
2 Dakkafex 2 Dakkafex
1495
Very straightforward list, go forth and shoot. Malanthropes keeps fexes in line and covered.
--------------------------------
Stealer Shock - CAD + 2 Formations
Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Venomthrope
5 Genestealers, Broodlord with ScyTals (warlord) 5x5 Genestealers
Manofactorum Genestealers 5x5 Genestealers
Deathleaper Assassination Brood Deathleaper 5 Lictors
1499
I'm thinking about pimping this list with a Bastion with Comms.
------------------------------------
Melee - CAD + Formation
Meleerant - Wings, Bonesword/whip, Adrenal Glands, Old Adversary
Malanthrope
Mucolid Mucolid
Dimachaeron 6 Raveners, Rending Claws 7 Shrikes, Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Flesh Hooks. 3 Bonesword/whip, ScyTals, 4 Rending Claws, ScyTals
Manofactorum Genestealers 5x5 Genestealers
1492
Goal of the list is to be able to charge everything turn 2. To that end Dimachaeron really doesn't fit in, but I love the model and I've been waiting so long to get to use it. Weak list, after 1-2 turns of enemy shooting I shouldn't have much left to assault with. Positives are that it's made of the models I like the most.
---------------------------------
Red Drops - double CAD
Tyrannocyte - Barbed Strangler
Dakka Flyrant Dakka Flyrant
Venomthrope
Mucolid Mucolid Mucolid Mucolid
3 Spore Mines 3 Raveners - Rending Claws 3 Raveners - Rending Claws 3 Raveners - Rending Claws 3 Shrikes - Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Flesh Hooks. 1 Sword/whip, Rending Claws. 2 ScyTals, Rending Claws. 3 Shrikes - Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Flesh Hooks. 1 Sword/whip, Rending Claws. 2 ScyTals, Rending Claws.
Tyrannofex - Egrubs
1496
This list is a bit of a hybrid, it has a bit of everything - Flyrants, fast cc and dropping threats.
------------------------------------------
Vintage - single CAD
Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs Dakka Flyrant, Egrubs
Malanthrope Malanthrope
30 Termagants 30 Termagants Tervigon, Egrubs Tervigon, Egrubs
