And this is why you fail. Like someone said, in 5th edition, and in 6th edition YOU DON'T NEED TO GET YOUR POINTS BACK.

You can loose the game with a 1 point mini killing 1000 points. You can win the game with a 1000 point mini killing only 1 point. You are playing the game wrong somehow.

You never mentioned if you win or loose your games or did I miss it?

I understand that a model doesn't have to earn 100% of its points back, I get that but a 260 point model that does nothing for me and is really fragile compared to what I am fighting against doesn't seem to be worth as much threat wise as his walking counterpart. and I don't think I am playing the game wrong, as for the most part I win my games. I might just be missing something, and I have gotten a lot of good tips from this thread. he just seems a little pricey for what he does.

Since I don't know how you play, and I basically suck at 40K, my problem when I play is, I try to go for the kill, and as you say, get your points back. Now I realize I make the same mistakes as others, and forget about the OBJECTIVES. The way I see it right now, our over priced expensive MC are suppose to be DESTRACTION units. So as long as they don't kill anything, but still get shot at, that means the other weaker units are not getting shot at.

So while a FMC or Flyrant, kills 10 000 points, if non of our troops are holding objectives, it doesn't matter that it killed 10 000 points, we still lost the game.

So instead of thinking that the Flyrant is not preforming good, or well enough, what is happening to the other units that are NOT holding objectives? Why are they getting shot up? Is it because the Flyrant is getting shot up first and then the troops are getting shot up after wards?

I will happily throw a flyrant or something into a fight he can't win, if it keeps my opponent from grabbing an objective.

Your troops have to survive and be in the right place when the game ends. Other units have to make sure they do.
If they do it by killing, or dying, or just hang around and look intimidating really doesn't matter. As long as they help the troops to do their thing (winning games), they are worth their points.

Killing enemy units is a means to the goal, not the goal itself.
