So my next project after my intro blood angels, and my cheesey nids, is going to be a fluff/ project army. I want to do a tau army, that has long since been defeated, and re animated by papa nurgle. Their armour is all rusted an covered in moss etc, and the troops are all mutated and what not.
But...
Do I ally with nurgle chaos marines? Or nurgle daemons?

Probably marines considering the strengths of your army. Tau are all about the dakka and by adding completely cc allies you round out your list but your potential dakka suffers. Allrounders like csms will aid in both shooting and give you a modicum of a cc presence.
