Hey guys,

I joined the Tyranid Hive about 8 months ago after a lengthy break from 40K and with no prior experience with Tyranids. They were a new army to me and ive never been much of a 40Ker so i expected a rocky start to my bug career. Since that time ive only lost a couple of games and placed first and second in two 40K tournaments. I never thought i would have this much success with this army in such a short time - i feel the Tyranid Hive has been very influential in my early successes.

Many of you here, especially the 'regulars' and 'oldboys' have been diligently responding to my posts, commenting on my lists and overall showing great support to me since i joined. I wanted to issue personal thank you for that, you helped build my confidence, offered tonnes of information and encouraged me a great deal.

This is without a doubt one of the greatest wargaming forums on the internet. I could not have done it without yah :'-)

Yep, I had a similar experience here. That's why I stayed around to help as much as I could as well. Lost my first several games straight, came here looking for help and absolutely found it. I have looked at other Warhammer 40k forums to help with my other armies but still consistently find the best information here.

I was also pleasantly surprised to find I was not criticised for starting a totally proxy army: I joined here for list-building and tactical advice before I had bought my first Skaven model, and now have over 3,000 points of Rats on Round Bases!

I don't win many games these days, against my friends' flier lists, but I still check the forum daily, and reply often.

BoLS and DakkaDakka are too troll-heavy, BolterAndChainsword were useful but rude and dismissive of proxy armies(I had a mixed-gender Marine army: the reaction was like I turned up at a mosque selling bacon sandwiches!)

I am trying to develop my new Dark Eldar army, and TheDarkCity has been good, but I can't see myself stopping using The Hive, even if my Skavenids are taking a sabbatical!

The Hive is a great community with a large number of intelligent, experienced, and, above all, friendly 40k players.

I dare say that the Hive has the lowest percentage of trolls of any other forum I have ever been on.

This place has been a wealth of knowledge for my 'nids, their tactics, and 40k in general. It seems like every week or two I'm finding out about some nuance in the rules that my friends and I have been missing... I sometimes think I know more about my opponents armies (or at least how to exploit them) than they do!

Couple that with the fact that most of the people seem to be pretty reasonable and not vindictive when it comes to criticism...this place has been great!!!

i pretty much did the same thing.

i found this site when i was reasearching what army i liked the best. when i decided on nids i started reading here. ive only lost one game of 40k so far and it was to a guy playing deamons who used a lot of rule bends (which helped me learn a lot) and the hive healped me figure it out.

i also got best general (my army is unpainted =P) at my first tourny.

As a moderator of another 40K forum it's pretty interesting for me posting here. I like the other forum I'm involved in very much (it's 40KOnline if anybody cares), but it's very much a general community. It started out as Eldar Online and a sizeable proportion of the forum posters play Eldar, but nevertheless it is very much a forum about 40K in general, and the Tyranid community (which I moderate) is tiny and not very active these days- interpret the reasons for that however you like.

The Tyranid Hive is, as a community for Tyranid players, outstanding. It's a great community, with very helpful posters, and from what I can tell very good staff (if a forum's running well and you can't see much moderation being done, that tends to indicate extremely skillful moderating in my opinion). I've not been here long, but my experiences thus far have been positive and interesting. Long may it continue!

I suspect it's because the Nids are such an unforgiving army that most potential trolls go... elsewhere when they realize the Nids aren't the powergaming army they wanted.

I started off over at warpshadow because they had a nice gallery attached to it, but i found that the forums there didnt have enough responses unless you were a specific few.

so i came here, and ive been happy ever since!

and whats better is that there arent any grammar nazis here too that complain that i dont capitalize or use proper punctuaton like at some other forums ive been to. seriously, the difference between ive and i've really doesnt matter, our brains can read it the same either way.

Ive been in love with tyranids since 3rd edition, but didnt have money to collect them until the end fo 4th... now i have 10,000pts WITHOUT gargantual creatures!

I began at warseer but got frustrated at how long it takes to get a response and how little tyranid players there are. But here you hav at least 5 replies by the next day! GREAT forum has helped me heaps when i was a lurker . Ihave gone from losing most games to being in the top 3 in my local group

Your post was so saccharin it bored holes into my teeth... Thaaat being said, I know your sentiment, and even share it. It's a heck of a community here, and I can't get enough of it. Even the nutters here are a bunch of fun, and have something worth hearing.

When you first joined I thought you might be the same chuckles... as I read your posts it became more obvious.

Funny you should say that. I always felt we were pretty strict about things like proper grammar and spelling. It has been part of our forums rules since the beginning. If it hasn't been mentioned to you, either none of us noticed, or it wasn't that bad.

A lot of our posters have English as a second language, so it makes it much easier if we follow the rules of the language. Plus it is just polite to put a bit more effort into the presentation of your statements.
