In 5th at least I could deny...I'm pissed that they took that away from me. I've always that if someone is in the codex and there's fluff backing them that works, there's no reason they shouldn't be a viable choice. Since Rippers are Troops, it should be totally viable to use them as such...then they go and destroy the only real use, denial, and make them even worse. I guess I'll just have to table them ;D

Start with the Parasite + Sky Slashers, the non-Tunnel unit and one other on board. DS the rest where needed and shoot things to hell, eat some wounds, they Rage into their face after shooting more. I do hate that I have to waste the points, I really can't see another use for them though.

Here's a few closer pics of him. If I remember right, a Venonthrope, warrior claws and gaunt claws and Winged Nightmare wings. I wanted him to look like a bay Malanthrope...with wings. If I had the skill, I would have cut and turned the tentacles on the mouth downwards.

It's exactly half maximum, so with 4 broods on the table only 4 can be in reserve. Maybe trade tunnel on a few for AG.

I personally wouldn't go so heavy on malanthropes so I could squeeze PoM in your list somewhere. PoM just goes too well with your list to ignore and could prove vital in letting the sky rippers stay as fast as possible without gobbling themselves. A brood of 3 Malanthropes could be a tough Warlord point though, 12 wounds over 3 MCs at T5 3+ ain't too shabby! Just watch out for Demolishers and other S10 pie plates because that'll be 330 points +warlord point down the drain in a jiffy.

60mm: I love Malanthropes, they were the original inspiration for the list. The Parasite being made in the new 'dex simply made me very happy. You're right though, as a single HQ choice, they'd make an awesome warlord unit. I won;t have them for a long time in any case. What do you think about my last Parasite based list?
Gallivantist: I should be playing the game vs Daemons this Wednesday night, we might play 2 if we have time. I'll try and remember my camera for pics.

Ive just started playing nids and love this list. Its sheer evil only in cast plastic form.
I could only imagine the look on your opponents face if he didnt know you were using a list like that lol.
Good luck with your game and am really looking forward to the batrep.

played my first 6th ed game, opponent's 4th 6th ed game, so we got a bunch of stuff wrong, but it was awesome!

Mission: The Relic Deployment: Diagonal
We made a bunch of mistakes, the main one being that we missed that fact that it had to be a scoring units that picked up the Relic, so the Parasite had it until the last turn, but I gave it to him because he'd had a scoring unit where it was originally.
I had first turn.
I camped the Parasite and his fliers right over the Relic and made a circle with the 2 ripper squads that started on board, was able to make a circle that would keep him 4" from the objective and give me max shooting and overwatch. This circle held untill the last turn or two when he assulted with a large plaguebear squad and some nurglings.
I forgot about the poision for the first 2 turns of combat with one of the Princes but did kill him, killed another with shooting him and an assault. Took out Kugath and Epi at the last moment.
It was a clusterf!!!k, final outcome was:
Him: 4 The Relic +3 Linebreaker +1
Me: 2 First Blood +1 Slay the Warlord +1
It was a hilarious game. Things I learned:
- I need more dice - Vs Nurgel I'm rolling 5+ to hit and 6+ to wound with spinefists - that's ok, I get 36 shots per squad, and if he assaults I get it again. - Twin-linking kicks ass!!!!! - The lack of No Retreat wounds makes me way more survivable in combat, poison helps there too! - OMG so many shots! - when shooting at 5+ then 6+ on 36 dice I will get 3 wounds, that happened with almost every round of shooting I did - I LOVE RIPPERS
The list was amazing, it still lets me play like I used to, but with some big twists. As long as I can tarpit and keep him 3" from the objectives, I can win. I just realised that my Parasite can get me Linebreaker, but I'd have to separate him from the fliers at the last second.
