Also, there is strange racism in the fact, that Flyers have tough armor and Skyfire, and FMCs fall down from the lasgun hit and can't Skyfire back. *gasp* Vile racists! although that's actually a decent point.

Thats simple. Show me a new FMC model out for sale. Now show me new flying models out for sale. You get the picture.

It doesn't seem to me that Ymgarls can be considered "characters." They are Genestealers for the purpose of Brood Telepathy.
They are not listed in the 6th Ed. RB as characters. Nowhere in their entry are they described as characters. Only in the FAQ for 6th are they indirectly referred to as "Special Characters." I feel that's used as a broad term here. None of the referenced units are referred to anywhere else as "special characters." They aren't listed in the reference section in the back of the book. It's impossible to tell if they just decided to use the term "special character" instead of "unique."
I do find it odd the left out alot of the Tyranid forces entry's in the reference section.
Not all MC's are considered characters.
I feel they did a ham-handed job on this edition, and there is ALOT that needs FAQ'ing, IMO.
Broodlords not having a BS for Psy Powers bothers me, as well.

Broodlords not having a BS for Psy Powers bothers me, as well. There is precedent of Psykers with shooting powers without a Ballistic Skill. The Orks have a character, Old Zogwort, who has a psychic shooting attack that hits automatically and has a BS of 0. So you can use shooting attacks with a BS of 0 as long they don't require a to hit or scatter roll.

None of the 'Special Characters' were listed in the back.

There's more difficult question with Zzap and Frazzle, since they not clarified as Shooting. But even we consider they do, then Zogwort has the same problem as Broodlord. There is no clear answer for that in FAQ, I just checked. Still, at least he randoms power for one turn, and has a re-roll if he doesn't like that. We stuck with Witchfire for entire game.

It's not a slip up, it's just laziness. Broodlords "snap firing" psychic powers is a great one for this as well

I think it's called Curse and it it is a psychic power used in the shooting phase and functions exactly like a psychic shooting attack in every way. He can also use Frazzle and Zzap, witch are both witchfire powers that hit automatically.

If in range 18'', both players roll the Dice. If ork player roll higher..." and so on. Tell me, please, in what way it is a shooting attack. Just because it is a shooting phase? Every other Weirdboy power is used in a Shooting phase, this don't make them shots. As the Broodlord's Gaze isn't a close-combat attack just because it is used in Assault phase.

It's not a slip up, it's just laziness. Broodlords "snap firing" psychic powers is a great one for this as well I understand the FAQ entry is titled that way, but I feel that it's more of a poor choice of verbiage, than an indication that the above named creatures are ruled as "Special Characters." Besides, it doesn't say anything that they are to be treated as characters, independent or special. Nowhere before have these Unique creatures been referred to as "Special characters," besides this one entry in the FAQ that seems lazily put together, IMO. While, I understand OOE, Swarmlord, DoM, Deathleaper ARE singular entities, this does not mean they are Special Characters. It lists these creatures, and declares them the same as their usual counterpart FOR THE PURPOSES OF _____. It gives specifics on what abilities they have, but aren't explicitly listed in their entry in the Codex. Ymgarls are Genestealers for the purpose of Brood Telepathy. Though this is listed in their actual army list entry, why do they list it in this FAQ entry? Is it because it's the only other "unique" unit in the Dex, and felt it necessary to cover that base? Or did they actually mean for them to be considered "Special Characters?" I find the evidence is lacking. Nowhere does it connect these as sp ch than the title entry. I don't feel that is enough.

While, I understand OOE, Swarmlord, DoM, Deathleaper ARE singular entities, this does not mean they are Special Characters. Overquoting, bro... Personally, I think that OOE, Doom and DL aren't characters (Swarmlord is a Tyrant after all, it's safe to assume if the Tyrant is a character, then he's also one). And I like it this way, since this means that our heroes will charge into the unit and won't be forced to challenge. Clearly, there's not a single reason to think that they are chars. Prime and Mortrex - surely are. Swarmlord - most likely. All others - why would they? upd. New FAQ is up. Every Unique model became characters. No ymgarls still

I can't see Ymgarls being characters now, that GW got rid of the all Palidins Squad, or Ork what ever they were, and Space Wolfe what ever it was, Squads of being all Characters. I am finally glad this was cleared up. Another sad day when geeks and nerds have to try and take any advantage to win with plastic toy soldiers.

Ok, even if it isn't a shooting attack, Zzap and Frazzle clearly are classified as witchfire powers, and therefore are psychic shooting attacks, so my point remains valid that since Old Zogwort can use auto-hit psychic shooting powers without any special rule allowing him to do so, any BS0 psyker can. And yet I just read the FAQ, and it says a unit with BS0 can't make shooting attacks of any kind, once again, Games Workshop directly contradicts itself.
