Have any units that your opponents underestimate?

Do you have a unit in your Tyranid force that your opponents like to tell you is terrible and awful, but which kicks tremendous amounts of butt, or which the same people prioritize as targets? I've had that happen to me for a few of my units.

I've been told the Broodlord is (please do not swear), for instance. The thing is, while this guy told me the Broodlord is (please do not swear), we were playing a game where the Broodlord got into enemy lines and near singlehandedly destroyed two Eldar dreadnaughts thanks to Implant Attack. I mean, wtf, you're going to tell me it's horrible after it wipes out over three times its own point value? You're going to tell me it's a bad unit after it just attained MVP status in the army?

Another unit I've had dismissed as bad is the Biovore. "Oh, that thing's useless," my opponents insist, even as they drop everything to destroy them just to stop the rain of spore mines, throwing infantry and vehicles at them until they're dead.

So what am I supposed to make of that? Are my opponents trying to lie to me? Personally I doubt that, but otherwise, what's the explanation? Are they just unable to comprehend the value of some Tyranid units? And do you have any units of your own that your opponents write off as awful but end doing way better than they expect or even acknowledge?

yes, when I lost horribly to my friend who plays Wolves, as the last two surviving devilgaunts in a unit of 24 shot and killed three marines from their 6 devourer shots. we were both impressed and the two gaunts were awarded joint 'man of the match.'

Not so much anymore. DevilGaunts and Gargoyles both used to fall into this category, but people around here have learned to fear them now.

Hormagaunts still, perhaps.

Lictors were the biggest one, but my regular opponents quickly learnt.
Also my last 4 games, Pyrovores! I'm actually really enjoying them so far, and they are working for me. Yesterday against a world eater chaos army they did wonders holding a flank with some gaunts. Seriously under rated unit. (I know, here comes the hate )

In 5th, I used Broodlords to great effect as well. They were always seriously underestimated. It's a pity Genestealers are terrible now.

My opponents still have to get used to raveners. They always deal a lot of damage. I never have much trouble keeping them alive, because they are able to croos a lot of terrain, behind buildings or ruins.

Vehicles ignores Instant Death. They don't have any wounds to lose.
If you're talking about Wraithlords - they aren't Dreadnoughts, they are MC's.

As for the topic - inexperienced players underestimate many things, but mostly buffed Gants. Experienced players usually don't underestimate things.

My Broodlord against my best mate. We're both very experienced players, and neither of us held Broodlords in high regard. I gave them a try against his list once, and two of them ripped apart his backline. Both died, but they caused a lot of damage. This was repeated in a second game when a Broodlord ripped a few units of his Grey Knights apart. Ever since them we've both highly regarded them and they always make my lists now.

Also, I find many people underestimate Hive Guard. I think they just don't know what they do, until they do it.

My hive guard have always been underestimated as my opponents always think they can insta kill them till i say T6 plus no cover saves and can hit anything in range just a awesome unit for me :-)

Yeah, surprising how little people realise that Hive Guard are T6 and hardly give cover saves.

My hive guard usually only die when I'm close to getting tabled anyway.

My warriors were underestimated for the short time I ran them, once people saw what they did to a unit in CC (using boneswords) that quickly stopped being the case so I had to drop them from my lists.

My favorite unit in 6th is the Devilfex. Everyone underestimates him all the way around. Overwatch being the best... Hide him behind the pod for cover and he usually wrecks things pretty well.

Tyranids are just underestimate in general, pretty much every game i play my opponent tells me how they didn't expect them to get across the board so fast.

I had one guy tell me Doom was not worth it. Then, after Doom dropped in turn 2, killed off 2 units of troops with Leech and then drop a strength 10 blast that ends up destroying 2 pentinent engines and a transport the guy just started complaining about how overpowered everything in the nid codex was...

I wish my opponents would underestimate some of my units. The best I can hope for is the occasional overestimate. My T-Fexes drew a lot of fire the first couple of times I ran them but once that corrected they weren't really worth it anymore. Swarmlord is always overestimated because of what he did to my friend's unbeatable nob squad one time. Now he is public enemy number one and soaks a ton of mindstrike missiles to the face.

Thankfully that (albeit expensive) distraction allows my tervigons to boogie upfield unmolested and eat some face.
