EDIT 01/15/13 Happy New Year!!! I've had about 10 games since my last BATREP, but with work I've barely had enough time to play...much less to write them up. I've been keeping up with the score, and I've only lost 2 out of the 10. Tyranids are rocking in 2013/6th edition. I'm looking to try my luck against the new Dark Angels soon. The codex looks great. I just wrote up a new batrep tonight against the World Eaters Legion from the Horus Heresy books! Enjoy.
EDIT 12/03/12 Tyranids take First Place in a 1750 point Tournament at FCB games in Alpharetta, GA. See page 4 for battle reports!!
EDIT 11/21/12 - Happy Thanksgiving. I am going to be working on creating a 9 Tervigon list. Today was the first game that I added a third Tervigon to my list (See page 4). I will be getting more Termagants and Tervigons over the next few months. I will keep the Hive posted with pics and battle reports. My goal is to keep adding big bugs and little bugs to practice getting better with the army and figure out all of the things I need to do to speed things up. Like creating Psychic power effect markers, since the cards are big and take up a lot of space. Also, squad markers for all of the little bugs is going to be a PITA. Wish me luck!!!
EDIT 09/27/12 - I've been accused of not bringing "Friendly Lists" to the FLGS in my area. So I started bringing subpar lists and playing Friendly games against my regular opponents. I hope you enjoy the Battle Reports and games. I still plan on tweaking the Alpha Strike list. I will update my signature with results of both, but will only update the Title of this thread with a combined score for 6th edition.
EDIT 09/23/23 I played in the tournament today that I've been practicing for. I will be updating the results and they start on Page 2 of this thread. Some Pictures included. Game #1 is up!
EDIT 9/13/12: I have switched to the Dual Flyrant Hybrid V4 list located on page 2 to fall in line with the new FAQ skyfire rules for Flyrants. Please enjoy my battle blog and the evolution of my 6th edition army.
EDIT***Here on page one is my original Alpha Strike Hybrid List: I added a second list about 3 posts down that I'm also thinking about running... Please comment below.
HQ: Hive Tyrant (Wings, TL Dev, LW&BS, HC, TS) = 280 Tyranid Prime (LW&BS, TS, Deathspitter) = 110
Troop: Tervigon (TS, AG, CC, 2 Biomancy Powers, Cluster Spines) = 220 10 Termagant (Devourers) = 100 Tervigon (TS, AG, CC, 2 Biomancy Powers, Cluster Spines) = 220 10 Termagant (Devourers) = 100 4 Warriors (2 BS, Deathspitters) = 180
Elite: 8 Ymgarl Genestealers = 184 Doom (Mycetic Spore: TL Deathspitter) = 140
Heavy Support: Carnifex (2 TL BL Devourers, Frag Spines, TS, Mycetic Spore: TL Deathspitter) = 255 Trygon (TS) = 210
1999 Total Points
So I have been starting the Hive Tyrant, Carnifex, Doom, Ymgarls, and Prime/Warriors in reserves. Warriors Outflank due to Hive Commander. Roll 2 times on Biomancy for the Tervigons, and Hive Tyrant looking for Iron Arm and anything else. Enfeeble, Endurance, Warp Speed being my other favorites. Look for LOS blocking terrain and send the Trygon & One Tervigon (the one with better offensive powers) forward to claim the middle of the board. The other one is Backfield Synapse/Objective holder. Stay close to cover. The 10 man units of Devilgants try and hide in ruins for better cover or out of sight until the reserves come in.
Turn 2, usually 4/5 of the army comes in and my opponent usually loses 2-3 vehicles/units to shooting. Tervigons make Termagants and cast blessings/Maledictions. It causes chaos and is really hard hitting.
results so far: GAME 1: GK & IG allies - 2 Stormravens with Strike Squads & BCs plus 2 psyfle dreads with 3 chimeras with command squad and 3 infantry platoons with Heavy weapons.
Hammer and Anvil (Capture & Control) = I won by taking Warlord and swapping objectives with my opponent. Warriors took and held the opponent's objective with the Ymgarls. Carnifex, Doom & Tyrant took out the Psyfle Dreads. Warriors, Mycetic Spores took out vehicles, Doom took out the Strike Squad & Infantry Platoons. I had to ignore the Storm Ravens because I couldn't really hurt them.
GAME 2 Salamanders & Vanilla Marines: Vulkan & 5 Hammernators in LR with Flamers, 2 10 man Tac Squads with ML, Flamer & Combi Flamer, Marine Captian with relic blade, LR Promethius (4 TL Heavy Bolters), 8 Sternguard, 2 10 man Tac Squad with ML, Plasma.
Pitched Battle with 3 Objectives - Deployed as normal with units in reserve. Took some shooting and a couple of wounds. Turn 2 everything but ymgarls come in. Carnifex takes out Tac squad and eventually wrecks the Salamander LR. Hive Tyrant, Tervigon & Prime take on Vulkan and the Hammernators eventually win combat but by then, all his troops are dead from Warriors, Ymgarls & Termagant shooting & Assaulting. 2nd Tervigon takes a few hull points off LR Promethius & wipes out a Tactical Squad. Doom kills two tactical squads by himself. He was the MVP of the game. I held 1 Objective and contested two others. We tied on Warlord, I had line breaker, he had first blood.
GAME 3: Necrons: (I don't remember whole list) Warrior Deathstar with Nemesor Zandrek, 2 Crypteks with Lightning, Destroyer Lord with MSS 10+ Warriors (Gauss, cryptek/Lord Orb 10 Immortals (Tesla) Cryptek/Lord Orb 10 Immortals (Tesla) Obyron/Crytpek/Lord Orb
5 Deathmarks (cryptek/lord) 5 Deathmarks (cryptek/lord)
Monolith Night Scythe
Vanguard deployment (Big Guns dont tire) 4 Objectives. I got first blood, Warriors came in and harrassed an Immortal unit, Carnifex DS mishap and was destroyed, Doom played with Lord in assault and finally Leech Essenced him. Trygon & Tervigon assaulted Deathstar and hurt it after it was shot by 5 units of Gants. MVP of the game was the Termagant. I made 4 turns of spawning from one Tervigon and 3 turns of spawning from the other. It was just a lot of shooting and assaulting. I held 2 objectives and had line breaker when game ended. Neither of us had Warlord. He had First Blood.

So I got another game in tonight with my Hybrid List. It was a rematch against Blood Angels from when I was running my Swarmlord list. We were interrupted and had to quit when I had him on the ropes. Tonight was a great 5 turn game with the 6th edition rules.
GAME FOUR: Blood Angels (Approximate List) 2000 Points single FOC
Librarian (Force Axe, 2 Divination powers) 10 Death Company Death Company Dread (2 Blood Talons, Heavy Flamer) Storm Raven with Hurricane Bolters, MM, Assault cannons, Blood Strike missles
10 man Assault Marines with PF, Melta, Power Weapon, Sanguinary Priest 10 man Assautl Marines with PF, Melta, Power Weapon, Flamer 10 man Assautl Marines with PF, Melta, Power Weapon, 2 flamers
4 Sanguinary Gaurd with Sanguinary Priest (4 Plasma guns)
Furioso Dread with MM & 2 super Heavy Flamers Drop Pod
We played 4 Objectives with Vanguard Deployment. 12 pieces of terrain with a good variation of types (ruins, hills, area, jungles, wrecked vehicles) The objectives were in the center in a diamond pattern with one corner of the diamond in his deployment zone. He was in the back right corner and I was in the front left corner. Hive Tyrant (Dominate, Psychic Shriek) Tervigon #1 (Enfeeble, Life Leech) Tervigon #2 (Warp Speed, Endurance)
Blood Angels won roll off and I did not try and steal initiative. He deployed the Sanguinary guard up on the line at the edge of the deployment zone. Two units of Assault Marines were deployed near one objective that was in his deployment zone. He got skyfire nexus on it. I deployed the two Tervigons, Trygon & two units of Devilgants in area terrain and 2" behind my deployment line.
BA Turn 1: He moves up and shoots his plasma at the Tervigon on the left causing 2 wounds. His Drop Pod with Furioso comes in and scatters back towards his lines. He disembarks and moves 5 inches into the center terrain revealing a Skyfire nexus objective.
Tyranid Turn 1: I make 12+ Termagants with both Tervigons and move everthing forward. Devilgants on the left take some shots at the Sanguinary Guard killing one. Termagants move up and reveal a Skyfire nexus objective (yes that's 3 out of 4 so far). Trygon runs and Tervigons cast enfeeble on the Assault Marines on the right and Endurance on the Tervigon on the left). Termagants & Devilgants on the right shoot at Marines on the right killing a couple.
BA Turn 2: Storm Raven doesn't come in (Librarian, Death Company embarked), Assault Marines arrive via Decent of Angels and use locator beacon on the Drop Pod. Marines us 2 Flamers on the Termagants on the right killing all but 3 and killing a couple of Devilgants. Furioso shoots at Termagants on the left killing some with his super flamers. Sanguinary Guard move up a little in the middle and the other assault marines on the left advance into ruins near my Termagants and the left objective. Some shooting and some dead Termagants on the right BA take first blood. His Sang guard shoot plasma at Trygon but fail to wound him.
Tyranid Turn 2: All my reserves come in. Flyrant flies straight on the board and lands behind the Furioso. Carnifex lands on the left aimed at the Assault marines there. Doom lands exactly between the Sang Guard and left Assault marines. Prime and warriors outflank behind the Assault marines on the right holding his objective. Ymgarls pop out in the center terrain on the right next to the DOA Assault Marine Squad. Doom eats 2 Sang Guard, Trygon shoots one dead, Devilgants, Termagants & Carnifex kill 5 Assault marines on left and they break due to Devourers and run off the board. Hive Tyrant shoots and blows up the Furioso Dread. Ymgarls assault with +1 Toughness and win combat but the marines stay locked in combat. Prime & warriors kill 2 marines to shooting. Tervigons cast enfeeble on the DOA marines and endurance on himself. Hive Tyrant
BA Turn 3: Storm Raven Comes in 24" and shoots at Trygon & Tervigon. He fails to wound both of them. He moves his remaining Assault Marine unit in to help with the Ymgarls. He fails combat with them and they fall back 15". The other unit stays locked in with the remaining 4 Ymgarls. He moves his Sang guard back out of range of the Doom.
Tyranids Turn 3: Carnifex glances 2 Hull points off the Storm Raven. Hive Tyrant shoots but fails to glance Storm Raven. Trygon moves and runs to try and assault the remaining Sanguinary Priest but fails miserably. Tyranid Prime & Warriors shoot and kill another marine. Poor move through cover and run rolls makes them slow. Devilgants move up and take the right front objective.
BA Turn 4: Marines regroup and retake objective on the right rear. Death Company Dread gets out and assaults the Tervigon on left killing it. Death Company marines & Library assault Tervigon in middle and kill it. Brood Progenitor kills half of Devilgants on left and 2 Termagants holding left back objective. Storm Raven moves up 6" near the Doom's Mycetic Spore. Assault Marines & Sanguinary Priest jump back into combat with Ymgarls and help wipe out the unit.
Tyranids Turn 4: Hive Tyrant flies off his table edge. Carnifex shoots and assaults the Death Company Dread wrecking it. Trygon assaults the Death Company & kills 5 before being Force Weaponed to death. Doom moves up but rolls 1 to run and is just out of Spirit Leech range. Devilgants shoot at Assault marines on right killing one. Prime & Warriors move up but fail to wound anything with shooting and are stuck at 13" away from assault. Spore Pod shoots Ripper Tentacles at the Storm Raven removing its last Hull Point wrecking it.
BA Turn 5: Assault Marines shoot Devilgants on the right killing 2 (they fail morale and fall back off objective), then they declare assault where the Devilgants promptly kill 3 on overwatch and are destroyed by failing another Morale Check. He's down to one Marine in that unit who consolidates onto the objective there. Sanguinary priest moves up towards the center giving the remaining 3 Assault marines from the first squad have taken the center objective. All four objectives were Skyfire, but no units ever used it to shoot at flyers. Some shooting at Doom and he dropped down to 1 wound.
Tyranid Turn 5: Hive Tyrant returns and vector strikes over the lone marine holding the front right objective killing him. Carnifex moves up and the Doom moves within Spirit Leech range of Death Company & the Assault Marines in center. The Prime & Warriors take the back right objective in his deployment zone. The Doom eats the last 2 Death Company & two Assault Marines. Then the Tyrant shoots at the last Assault Marine in the middle killing him with devourers. The Carnifex shoots the Librarian down with his TL Devourers. Leaving the lone Sanguinary Priest alive. Tyranids hold the back right, and front left objectives. Warlord and Line Breaker.
Game ends on a 1: Tyranid Victory.
I am really enjoying this list. I wouldn't say that I've faced tournament ready lists, but I have played some really good players that I have previously not been able to beat. Even this being a rematch and me feeling like I was going to win the last game it's never over till it's over. If you have any thoughts or criticisms... please let me know.
Sorry I didn't get any pictures... I was in a hurry tonight.

So this is a long standing grudge match against my Tau room mate Brian. He is aptly name the "Sneaky (please do not swear)" by me. He proves true to name in this nail biter against his Tau and my WIP Grey Knights allies. GAME #5 Tau Empire & Grey Knights Allies 2K Tau Commander (Warlord) Plasma/Missle Pod/Shield Generator 9 Fire Warriors in Devilfish 9 Fire Warriors in Devilfish 5 Pathfinders 5 Pathfinders 2 Broadsides (Railguns/Smart Missle) 2 Broadsides (Railguns/Smart Missle) 2 Broadsides (Railguns/Smart Missle) Grey Knights: Storm Raven (HB, Assault Cannon, Hurricane Bolters) Draigo 5 Paladins with Incinerator 2000 points Game was Big Guns never tire with 5 Objectives. My opponent put 3 objectives in his right corner and I put my two on my side, one in my left corner in the Ruin and one in the middle of my deployment zone. Pitched Battle. Tau took first turn with the Draigo bomb in reserve. He castles the Tau up in his left corner with Pathfinders in the middle. I put out two Tervigons one on each side with a 10 man Devilgant squad. Hiding behind LOS blocking terrain. My Warlord trait gives Ruins special move through cover and Stealth Ruins. He gets re-rolls reserves. We both move up a little bit but nothing happens turn 1 Tau turn 2: Stormraven comes in and the Tau Commander deep strikes in but scatters and goes back into ongoing reserves. The Draigo Bomb heads for the Tervigon on my left. Both Devilfish move up and shoot a few of the Devilgants. He reveals a +1 Cover objective and a Re-roll 1s when shooting objective. Tyranid Turn 2: Everything but the Flyrant comes in. Tervigon on left spawns 14 Termagants and burns out. They spread out and move up in the ruins above the left objective. Doom eats Fire Warriors, and one Broadside from two units. Goes up to Strength 10. Trygon deep strikes but scatters back towards Tervigon on right. I spawn 16 gants and burn out on the right. Shoot at the Fire Warriors on right side killing all but one. Carnifex deep strikes over by the Draigo Bomb and glances up a Devilfish. The Spore takes a hull points off a Devilfish and the outflanking warriors come in to take another hull point off of the Devilfish. Tervigon and Devilgants move up a little on the right revealing nothing of note with the objective on the right side. I reveal a +1 cover objective in my ruins. Spawned Termagants on the right run to the middle claiming that objective. Ymgarls come in and get pinned by Pathfinder overwatch fire and double 6s Leadership test. No Synapse in sight. Tau Turn 3: Commander Deep Strikes into the middle of the board trying to gain position in the middle. He shoots some Termagants but they are still in Synapse. Stormraven flies away headed towards the sneaky Tau players corner objectives. His plan was to lure most of my forces after the Draigo bomb and then go over to claim the 3 objectives on his side leaving me to walk the long way across. Railgun to the face takes out the Doom of Malantai, but not before the Doom took a few more Fire Warriors and one more Broadside with him. Tyranids Turn 3: Hive Tyrant Vector strikes over the Tau Commander, and moves into 12' of the Ymgarls and they regroup to assault the remaining Broadside team, then shoots the Tau Commander in the back with his Devourers. The Commander takes 2 wounds. Termagant shooting takes another wound from the Commander and then the Termagants assault losing a couple but failing to bring down the Mighty Tau Warlord. Devilgants & Tervigon move up on the right claiming the ruins and the objective there. Trygon moves up and shoots a lone Fire Warrior standing there. Carnifex wrecks a Devilfish. Tervigon moves towards the wreckage of Devilfish. Tyranid prime and warriors move and run towards the left side objective. Tau Turn 4: Fire Warriors rapid fire into the Tervigon taking off a couple of wounds on the left. Pathfinders remove cover saves on the Termagants in the Ruins and they are dropped to 4. Draigo Bomb jumps out and after taking a triple 1 perils of the warp, Draigo gives the unit Hammerhand and they proceed to wipe the Tervigon on the Right off the board. Brood Progenitor kills all but one Devilgant who hides behind the building. Storm Raven drives over and tries to shoot down the Trygon who's headed into the Tau Backfield. Tyranid Turn 4: The Carnifex wrecks the other Devilfish with shooting, after moving into the ruins to secure the left objective. Tervigon assaults the Fire Warriors on the left killing the one unit. Emergency disembarked Warriors shoot ineffectively. Hive Tyrant shoots and assaults the Pathfinders in the Tau backfield. Ymgarls kill one Broadside but combat continues. Trygon claims the backfield objective after getting a springboard off a single fire warrior who got in assault range. Trygon is down to 2 wounds from various shooting at this point. Mycetic Spore from the Doom kills the lone Solo Broadside left out of combat. Tau/GK Turn 5: Draigo and the GK hunt down the last contesting Devilgant killing him and start to consolidate towards a 2nd objective 13" away. (going for a twofer). The Trygon comes out and Smashes the Storm Raven to bits (love that rule) but the explosion kills 2 Ymgarls and a Pathfinder. All the MCs ignore the blast. Fire Warriors on the left try and shoot out the Objective but my cover save is just too good. (Plus they can't really get that Carnifex off the objective) Tyranid Turn 5: Tervigon on the left finishes off the Fire Warriors. The Prime & Warriors finally arrive to nothing left standing on the left (woo hoo!). The Hive Tyrant finishes off the Pathfinder. The Ymgarls finish off the Broadsides. Now it's just Draigo & his Paladins and a couple of Pathfinders in the very center. Trygon moves back into cover re-claiming the backfield objective. Game ends with Tau conceding. TYRANIDS WIN!!! Primary Objectives: Tyranids = 3 Tau/GK = 1 Slay the Warlord: Tyranids = 1 Tau/GK = 0 Line Breaker: Tyranids = 1 Tau/GK = 0 First Blood: Tyranids = 0 Tau/GK = 1 Tyranids: 5 Tau/GK = 2 Turn 5 Holding the left side against those damn Fire Warriors Draigo Bomb arrives (it's a distraction) Hive Tyrant Vector Strikes onto the Board & Draigo Bomb has moved towards the right side. Notice the Pinned Ymgarls in the top on the hill. Turn 2 Tyranids on the Right side moving to claim the center Tyranid Reserves

So I have two games scheduled today to test out my list.
One against space wolves (Tournament style list) HQ: Rune Priest (JOTWW, LL)
Troops: 5 Grey Hunters (Las/Plas Razor) 5 Grey Hunters (Las/Plas Razor) 5 Grey Hunters (Las/Plas Razor) 5 Grey Hunters (Las/Plas Razor)
FA: 4 TWC (1 PF, 2 SS, Melta Bomb, Reg dude) 4 TWC (1 PF, 2 SS, Melta Bomb, Reg dude) 4 TWC (1 PF, 2 SS, Melta Bomb, Reg dude)
Heavy: 4+1 Long Fangs (Missile Launchers) 3+1 Long Fangs (Missile Launchers)
Elite: Lone Wolf (PF/SS, Fenrisian Wolf) Lone Wolf (PF/SS, Fenrisian Wolf)
Other Against the Necrons with lots of Immortals, Warriors, Ghost Arks & Flyers.
I'm thinking about changing up my list a little... and I wanted to get your opinion.
I've only had the Warriors come under pressure once, and they were in cover claiming an objective in my opponent's backfield. I'm thinking about dropping one of them, dropping a couple of Ymgarls, and Toxin sacs from my MC's (currently Tyrant, Trygon & Carnifex), and taking off the TL Deathspitters off of the Mycetic Spores to free up enough room for Deathleaper to give a little more Anti Psyker (for Farseers, Creed & Rune Priests)
This would give me another striking unit turn 2/3 and also if he comes on the board, and some of my reserves don't come in, it will give them a bump.
I'm also thinking about upping the warriors equipment to LW&BS to give them a little more survivability in CC.
LIST #2: - Deathleaper HQ: Tyrant (wings, HC, TL Devs, LW&BS) - 2 Biomancy powers - 270 Prime (LW&BS, Deathspitter) - 100
Elite: Doom in Mycetic spore - 130 Deathleaper - 140 6 Ymgarls - 138
Troops: Tervigon (CC, TS, AG, CS) 2 Biomancy Powers - 220 Tervigon (CC, TS, AG, CS) 2 Biomancy Powers - 220 10 Devilgants - 100 10 Devilgants - 100 3 Warriors (LW&BS, Deathspitters) - 150
Heavy: Devilfex (2 TL Devs, Mycetic Spore) - 230 Trygon - 200
1998
LIST #3: Broodlord Commandos HQ: Tyrant (wings, HC, TL Devs, LW&BS) - 2 Biomancy powers - 270 Prime (LW&BS, Deathspitter, TS) - 110
Elite: Doom in Mycetic spore - 130 6 Ymgarls - 138
Troops: 4+1 Genestealers + Broodlord (TS) - 131 Tervigon (CC, TS, AG, CS) 2 Biomancy Powers - 220 Tervigon (CC, TS, AG, CS) 2 Biomancy Powers - 220 10 Devilgants - 100 10 Devilgants - 100 3 Warriors (LW&BS, Deathspitters) - 150

I will have to think about your list questions....
But I want to say that I *love* that someone owns a $300 GW gaming table, and has Styrofoam and egg cartons as terrain. Awesomesauce!

So I had two games tonight. One against Necrons and the other against the Tyranids. (My Space Wolf player brought his Tyranids instead) Necron game ended after 4 rounds with Tyranids in the lead (Line Breaker, First Blood and objectives) Emperor's Will/Hammer & Anvil. Tyranid game ended after 5 rounds with (His) Tyranids in the lead (First Blood, Objectives) Pitched Battle/The Scourging. ~ In this game I lost by attrition. In the Turn the Doom, Deathleaper, Carnifex and Ymgarls came in the Doom ate a squad of Termagants and went to Str 10, which he then shot at a unit of Hormagaunts killing 6. Then he ate a Impaler cannon and vanished. The Ymgarls lost 3 in the multi assault on a unit of Hive Guard & 10 man Termagant unit and only caused 2 wounds before they were counter charged and beaten to death. Deathleaper appeared ready to charge the other unit of Hive Guard, but the Tervigon ran up and Smashed him causing ID, and the Carnifex shot & finally killed (on next turn) the Tervigon that smashed the Deathleaper, but was promptly enfeebled and Smashed the next turn. Watch out for that rule/combo (MC smash + Enfeeble on our T6 critters = instant death) Thoughts on the list changes. I decided to go with the Deathleaper version. Deathleaper lowered the leadership of the Phaeron in the Necron Game, but it had no effect on the game. He appeared, did some shooting, passed his 2+ cover saves and then proceeded to start working his way through an immortal squad. (which was where he was when the game ended) I liked having him, because it allowed me to assault another unit that I normally wouldn't. In the Tyranid game, I nominated the Swarmlord and lowered his leadership to 7, effectively cutting off his psychic powers until a Tervigon ran up and Smashed the Deathleaper (causing ID). However, the other problem I ran into running this list was that I had to drop Poison on all of my MCs and I lost two Ymgarls. I firmly believe that you need to run 8 Ymgarls to be effective with overwatch and striking 2nd in combat. I lost 2-3 Ymgarls both times that I assaulted and it made a big difference on the outcome of the Assault. In the Necron game I won combat and swept the unit of Immortals but only had 3 left to assault the next unit. In the Tyranid game I just lost assault and was whittled down due to inability to put out enough attacks/wounds. I'm going to revisit the list... See if I can find a few more points for 2 more Ymgarls. (Maybe time to rethink the Trygon)

One thing I noticed in the earlier batrep; you can't be pinned or broken by overwatch fire, so the Ymgarls should have made their assault.
I'll try and look over the list changes later.

One thing I noticed in the earlier batrep; you can't be pinned or broken by overwatch fire, so the Ymgarls should have made their assault. I'll try and look over the list changes later. There was no Synapse, and Ymgarls aren't fearless. I swooped the Tyrant up in my next turn (turn 3) so they returned to normal then, but they had already failed the initial charge on turn 2.

It doesn't matter. Overwatch states it cannot cause pinning or morale checks.

So I got 3 games in this weekend... Game 1 3000 point game against Necrons & Tau w/ GK Allies. It was Pitched Battle deployment (12") and 4 objectives. Tyranids slowly whittled down the Necrons while almost taking the Tau out by the bottom of turn 2. The Grey Knights (Draigo & 5 Paladins in Storm Raven) didn't come in until Turn 3 and they failed to do much by the end of the game. 3000 point army photo: Tyranids held all 4 objectives with Super Star award going to the Devilgants & Ymgarls. I modified the Hybrid list to add Swarmlord & Guard with the Prime riding along with them. Also a Harpy, another unit of Ymgarls, 5 Shrikes with LW&BS, and 2 Biovores. Game 2: 2000 Hybrid list V1 (see first post) The Scouring/Dawn of War Vs. Tau (different player from 3000 point game) He had Commander with 2 bodyguards, and 6 drones, 3 Elites with Plasma & Melta equivalent. 2 Hammerheads, 2 man Broadside team, 2 Devilfish w/ 10 Fire Warriors, and 2 10 man Fire Warriors squads. Game was Dawn of War with 6 Objectives (Mysterious with different point values) Tau had first turn, I failed to sieze. Two Tervigons, 2 10 man Devilgants on the board. Everything else in reserves. I survived 2 turns of Tau shooting hiding behind terrain taking 3 wounds on one Tervigon and losing 4 Devilgants in one squad. Most objectives turned out to be +1 cover which helped. 4 of my 6 units came in turn 2 with Ymgarls & Warriors staying in reserves. Carnifex blows up Hammerhead, Doom eats parts of 3 units and then drops Cataclysm on Commander killing 3 drones and a Bodyguard. Trygon scatters into terrain and then shoots a Fire Warrior Squad. Tervigons are both Burned out by now making a whopping 14 gants total between the two of them. Hive Tyrant does a little shooting. On his turn he doesn't do a lot of damage, wounding the Trygon with a couple of wounds and taking another off the wounded Tervigon. Then I counter with killing his Elite unit, glancing the 2nd Hammerhead but not wrecking it. Hive Tyrant does some more shooting, move up and claim 4 of 6 objectives. Trygon wipes out the fire warrior squad on one of his objectives and I consolidate to context and eyeball his broadsides. Ymgarls and Warriors come in and they are the ones killing his elites. He concedes at the bottom of 5. This game should have been closer, he had enough firepower to kill the Carnifex, Trygon and Tervigon in one round but I made some good cover saves (above average). Things might have been different, but that's the way the dice fall.--> see Tervigon Spawning results!!! Game 3: 2000 points Hybrid List V3 - Hammer & Anvil / Big Guns Never Tire (4 mysterious objectives) vs. Vanilla Marines (Minotaur Chapter) We talked about beasts ignoring terrain, so we ruled that Raveners wouldn't lose their Initiative bonus when assaulting - so I tried them out. HQ: Flyrant (lw&bs, devs, TS, HC, 2 Biomancy) - 280 Troop: Tervfex (CC, TS, AG, CS, 2 Biomancy) - 220 Tervfex (CC, TS, AG, CS, 2 Biomancy) - 220 10 Devilgants 10 Devilgants Elite: 8 Ymgarls - 184 Doom in Mycetic Spore - 130 Fast: 10 Gargoyles (TS/AG) - 80 6 Raveners (Dev, RC) - 240 Heavy: Trygon (TS) - 210 Devilfex with Mycetic Spore - 235 Right at 1999 I think (maybe TS on Carnifex) He had a Foot Slogging Marine Army with Combat Squad Devastators (Missile Launchers), 10 Shooty Terminators w/PFists, HQ with Thunderhammer that wounded Psykers automatically and negated Psychic powers on a 4+ re-rollable, and a Mastery 3 Librarian with 3 Divination powers, and two Scout units led by Tellion. I came up one flank with everything hiding behind cover. Gargoyles and Raveners assaulting the deep striking Terminators turn 2. Raveners wiped the 5 man unit, killing the last one on his turn, to move on and assault a Devastator unit. Gargoyles stuck in combat killing 2 Terminators but losing 9. Trygon came up and finished the Terminators in the Gargoyle unit. Doom scattered but still could reach 3 units, killing a couple from each. DTW stopped Cataclysm from doing any damage and a Thunderhammer to the face ended the Doom's reign of Terror. Carnifex podded in nearby and shot up a couple of Marine units, slowly backing away to keep hammering the objective with Brainleech worms. Devilgants in the middle claimed two objectives and shot Tellion out of cover making him leap to his death from the top floor of a ruin (impact damage). Ymgarls wiped out the other Scout squad and moved up the board headed to the last of the 4 objectives in his deployment zone. Marines conceded at the bottom of 4 with Tyranids controlling 3 of 4 and only 7 Marines left in his whole army. I lost 9 Gargoyles, 6 Termagants, Doom, 1 Ymgarl & 3 Raveners total. I like the FA options that the Gargoyles & Raveners give. With all of the big bugs running at him, he didn't know what to shoot, and when the Doom & Carnifex arrived he was busy trying to shoot them. I gave up the Prime & Warrior unit (scoring outflanking) to buy these guys. I may try and run them again to see what's what. Please give your criticisms on the new Hybrid 3 please! Did we interpret the rules for Beasts properly, because that's why they beat the Terminators? I went through cover and got to swing first... it's the key to using these guys effectively and if I can't do that, then I might go back to the other list. Sorry no pics this time.

The Raveners as written go at I1. The rule for beasts states they are not slowed by difficult terrain, but the rule for assaulting through terrain states that if any model moved through difficult terrain it goes at I1, and says nothing about if they had their movement slowed.
I'm guessing it will be FAQ'd at some point to say that beasts "assault as if they had not moved through terrain", or somesuch thing.

After the game we went back and re-read the rules and felt like that's rules as written but not rules as interpreted.

GAME #10 - Crimson Fists - Dawn of War/The Emperor's Will (5 Objectives) 5 man Command Squad in Rhino (Power weapons, Power axes, 2+ save HQ, FNP) 10 Sternguard (2 Melta, 2 Combi Melta) w/Rhino Dozer Blades 10 Sternguard (2 Melta, 2 Combi Melta) w/Rhino Dozer Blades 10 Tactical Squad (PF, Melta, Flamer) Rhino 10 Tactical Squad (PF, ML, Flamer) Rhino 10 Tactical Squad (PF, Melta, Flamer) Rhino Scouts with Tellion Storm Talon Vindicator Mortis Pattern Contemptor Dread My List = Hybrid V4Dual Twin Dakka Flyrants (one with HC other with OA, 2 Biomancy Powers) 2 Tervigons (2 Biomancy powers, Both with TS, one with AG) 10 Devilgants 10 Termagants Doom in Spore Deathleaper 10 Ymgarls Dakkafex (Frag) in Spore Trygon (TS) (This was the round 1 of our upcoming tournament Scenario) Game Rules Here: gigabitescafe.com/forum/index.php?topic=5904.0Night Fighting: Tyranids take turn 1 and just move up into cover. One Tervigon casts Iron Arm, other Warp Speed. Crimson Fists go 2nd moving up a little and shooting 3 wounds off of one Tervigon. Turn 2: All Tyranid Reserves come in (Doom, Devilfex, ymgarls, both flyrants, Deathleaper, Trygon) I position myself to get rear angles on Contemptor and two Rhinos with Trygon, Doom, Carnifex. Pods kill a couple of scouts, Doom fails to leech anything but drops Str 4 Ap1 blast on two units of marines killing 7. Trygon shoots and glances, both Flyrants blow up rhinos. I make some Termagants and take 3 objectives. He does some shooting back grounding one Hive tyrant and taking a wound off the other. No reserves for Crimson Fists (Storm Talon). Kills the Trygon with shooting and wipes out the Ymgarls. Doom dies to a melta shot. Turn 3: Deathleaper assaults the Command squad and kills the Commander in a challenge. Dies in the subsequent round. Carnifex blows up a rhino and assaults the tactical squad inside then dies next round to Powerfist guy. Termagants assault Tactical squad on right (claiming the remaining objective) tying it up and eventually dying but dropping them to just the Powerfist guy. Hive Tyrant blows up the Vindicator and other one shoots and shakes the last Sternguard rhino. Turn 4: Storm talon comes in, Tervigons and devilgants move up and shoot at the Scouts, Storm talon kills flyrant. Combined fire from lots of shooting takes down the other tyrant. Sporepods are shot down. I'm down to 4 Termagant units and two Tervigons holding 3 objectives. He has 2 command guys, two rhinos, one 10 man sternguard unit, one 4 man Sternguard unit. 1 PF troop, 2 Tac marines, 2 scouts. Turn 5: Tyranids kill Scouts, and both scoring marine units. He shoots some gants but doesnt do much. Storm talon puts a wound on a Tervigon. Turn 6: I move into the ruins where his objective. Blowup both remaining rhinos. Shoot and kill 4 man Sternguard unit. He calls the game at 2.5 hours with me taking a major victory. Tyranids Win! Thoughts on the Game... Dual Flyrants were just brutal with my opponent claiming they were OP. Even though he killed both of them by turn 3. LOL! Everything came in turn 2, everything was dead by turn 4... LOL, I won on mission objectives and the resilience of Tervigons with Iron Arm, Endurance & Cover. He said... I just don't have anything in this list to beat you in an objective game.

I've heard many a marine cry nids are OP, just because they lose! Another great batrep, thanks for sharing.
I noticed earlier you asked about raveners in cover. Just so you know they have been FAQed to still go at I1, in the rulebook FAQ.
