Troops-what are the best for tyranid players ?

Nope. If you plan to punch any vehicles or use smash attacks then Crushing Claws are totally where it is at. Tervigons only lose one attack when they start smashing even with CC.

Getting on average two extra attacks is definitely worth it when those attacks are S10 AP2 and reroll wounds and AP.

The best from what I see is still swarms and swarms of gaunts what ever kind you prefer. Shooty gaunts work very well though due to the shift in 6th to more inf shooting than tank spam. The only down side is the low str of the weapons can not do much to tanks so you have to find the right balance since the die fast too. Herms on the other hand work better now too because of this. You can charge into those soft inf trying to shoot at everything and tear them apart fast. Just remember to take A LOT of gaunts though because by the end of the game 50%-90% of them will be dead.

With that said stealers still have their place. Taking minimum squads with brood lords means you can drop their lame psy powers and pick up some new powers from the master rule book. Nids now have the army with the most and possibly deadliest psy powers out there. The only catch is rolling well on the lists of powers, but this can give them a kind of shooting attack that they can use to soften up what they want to charge into instead of little melee modifiers, or you can simply use them as light tank hunters and proceed to glance things to death many hull points at a time. This also helps get at all the tasty bits inside faster. Finally, no synapse issues.

Warriors are better troops in 6th than they were in 5th but they still cost to many points for what they can do and what the can defend against. When I look at warriors I think of them more as a soft elite, light Terminator. They make good Term hunters and can go tow to tow with them rather well but the inv save still gives Terms the upper hand. Other than that the only thing they are really good for is providing roaming synapse and support for the weaker troops.

Tervagons go hand in hand with the gaunts and should be taken as either an HQ or as Troops if not both and is not really a question of is it the best but more what will you take with them.

Tervigon with crushing claws and both optional psychic powers, Roll until you get endurance or iron arm. This makes for a very durable troop. Both psychic powers means you get to roll 3 times on the bio chart with each roll having a 1/3 chance of getting one of those powers. (I always smash attack and roll until I get endurance so I get 1+d3 +d3 attacks).
Devilgaunts are very fun with overwatch.

Oops! Thanks! Hadn't actually tried it yet, still getting over the surprise of seeing my Tervigon doing anything useful in combat today! I suppose the Scytals would be the better value?

Well, Scything Talons allow you to gain extra initiative with Warp Speed, but if you want to reliably wreck vehicles you need the extra attacks from Crushing Claws, as a Tervigon with Scything Talons Smashing a vehicle will only ever be able to take out 3 hull points. Personally, I don't want to nearly wreck a Land Raider, only to have it move away then blast my Tervigon to bits, so I'm going for Crushing Claws unless I'm tight on points.
