Your thoughts on Allies..Have you fought them yet?

On the second section it says under (personal?) icons friendly units and daemons deepstriking near the icon don't scatter.

I don't have the CSM codex because all marines suck, but my friend does and that's what i recall being the end of the argument,

It says that it only works for Terminators, Obliterators, and "Lesser Daemons". While the various Chaos Daemon Units are fluff-wise Lesser Daemons, the only Unit actually worded that way is the Summoned Lesser Daemon Unit in the CSM Dex.

On the OP: I haven't fought against an Allied Force yet, but I have taken a Rune Priest and Grey Hunter Pack in a Guard Army. Worked out very well indeed. In fact, I'd say that the synergy between the Rune Priest and the Combined Platoon he was leading was about 60-70% of what won me that Game.

More generally, I think you need to consider very carefully what you want from your Allies, particularly the mandatory HQ and Troops. You're dumping a lot of Points in there, and if it's just to pick up an Elite or HS Unit, that "tax" probably isn't worthwhile. But if the HQ and Troops are a core part of what you want from the Allied force (as is the case with Wolves dropped into Guard, or Nob Bikers dropped into pretty much anything), it can be very worthwhile.
