Confusion over bonesword AP

Originally they said that they got AP3 because they were power weapons, but they dicided they were force weapons instead because of the ID power. They just don't require channeling to work.

As has been said many times over several years; Random rules interpretations from a phone answerer at GW are opinion, they are not official rules interpretations. At times in the past GW customer service has said things (based upon posts like this of someone who reports what the results of their phone call was) that were later proven false in an FAQ or errata.

Unless it comes out in print, that is not an official opinion. RAW is what is consensus here. Close combat weapon. AP "-", Ignores Armor Saves.

Their own definition of force weapon (PG 60) says it is "used exclusively by psykers", which warriors, shrikes, and tyrant guard are not. Tyrant guard are not even synapse creatures.

Why are people arguing about this? Stop trying to compare Tyranid stuff to wargear weapons. There is a reason GW didn't include any of the Tyranid close combat stuff in the appendix. Tyranids have unique weaponry and do not wield close combat weapons. All rules for Tyranid close combat weapons are in the Tyranid codex.

This is the one of the FIRST things the rules section of the codex says (paraphrased) and people still don't know what to do.

The very first sentence of the Bonesword rule entry is as follows:

"No armour saves may be taken against wounds inflicted in close combat by a Tyranid with a Bonesword"

Until this passage gets changed in the Tyranid FAQ, that is all you need to know.

Actually, its more likely because they have a lot of people writing their rules/faqs and they forgot about us or don't fully understand how their new rules set interacts with our unique rules.

Either way, you are 100% right. Unless there is an FAQ it is rule as written, ignore armor save.

Thank you for insulting my daughter. Gladly appreciated. We really need this STICKIED that we don't use that word on these forums no more. I shouldn't have to be insulted just because people can't think beofre using the word. To me that is almost like using the "N" word. I have a disabled daughter. OK RANT Over. So if it's a force weapon, how in the hell do Warriors use them? You are suppose to use a psychic test or power or what ever the workding is to use them. So have can Warriors use them if they are not psykers? So therefore they are not psychic weapons or Force Weapons.

Or am I getting my rules confused again?

THEY ARE NOT FORCE WEAPONS!

Force weapons require psychic tests, which boneswords don't.

An AP value is irrelevant, we ignore armor saves in close combat with them.

The only time it would be relevant for a Bonesword to have any ap value would be against vehicles, and only then if they were AP2 or AP1. Since they are not stated, we assume it has neither of these, which makes the AP value irrelevant.

Why are people getting so hung up on this?

Because alot of Space Marine players can't handle Tyranids having something that they don't.

Just look how loud they cried and complained about Shield Wall rule and saying we were all wrong. At least GW had some gonads and settled it it our favour.

my daughter has borderline personality disorder. you do not see me going off the handle every time someone says 'you must be crazy!' if you are that insulted by someone saying something in passing not related/directed at you or your family you may need to realize someone has a problem, and it's probably you.

Ok all I have to say to who ever claims that it's a psychic weapon, Where in our codex does it say Warriors are psychics?

If they are psychics then great, we get to roll for some Discipline powers . But since that is not the case, that will not be happening.

It's up to your OPPONENT to prove that it's a psychic weapon, not us, since we show them our codex and it doesn't say it is.
