6E: So who is going to use (insert model here)

Okay, I want to keep the rumor threads condensed... but this one isn't quite a rumor thread, but is 'based' on rumors....

So here is my compromise. I have changed this into a 'generic' thread about how various rumored changes will effect our various units/models and how we may use the in 6E.

Ground rule: NO POSTING RUMORS HERE!!

If you are posting here, it is assumed you are familar with the rumors and listed in the other thread and various other sites.

I believe we will get access to the actual rulebook on Sat... so this should be short lived...

I am curious who will be making and fielding Harpy's now? Do you think you will using them alot more now in your games for 6th edition?

Yes I know this maybe a bit early, but with the anticipation of 6th, I wonder if some people's mind have changed and will use them now.

I loved mine in 5th, I will continue to use him in 6th,
But no, people will use winged hive tyrants more, but I doubt we will see a mass migration to the harpy.

Double, maybe tripple flyrants with tons of gargs are now pretty threatening. Assuming the whole 6 to hit thing for shooting, killing off a flyrant will be very hard indeed. Them accompanied by inflitraiting stealers...well I have hopes that nids will be more "in your face" than ever before.

I'll wait for the complete rules and hopefully errata before deciding if the harpy is worthwhile.

Yeah, the verdict is still out on harpies. But you better believe I'm stoked about the rumored improvements my flying circus is about to see. Might even bust out my old Flyrant with the dragon wings to fly alongside my official kit.

^^ yeah it won't matter how they are modeled now for LOS! This is such good news....hopefully. Anyone thinking about potential 'dog fights'? wow that would be sweet!

well taken from the WD stuff, most of what was the bane of this model is taken care of. now only issue is the cost, and of course having to build one. could be nice, dunno. hard to tell with just some snippets of the rules and not the rule set in its entirety.

more relevant question is, what do we give up in our current builds to field a pair? flying circus most definitely looks to be back on, though.

Hmm I still vote that flyrant with a ton of gargs and shrikes will be more worth it. Smashing a unit with a flyrant and engaging with a ton of gargs who gain + 1 for their fliers (supposedly)...seems like it would be a new meta for engaging long range support troops. Or vehicles seeing how with adrenal glands those gargs could glance the crud outta a lot of things now.

From the new White Dwarf, page 22. Flying monstrous creatures get something called a "Vector Strike", which is described as "flying over enemies and tearing their heads from shoulders with taloned limbs as they do so."

Could make it more appealing?
