Allrighty! Next Nid and some extra random photos for free

Finished the Green Stuff and Priming of the Swarm Lord / Flyrant. Also finished green stuffing the 2nd Tervigon, ordered 2 Tervigon / 2 Tryrannofexs, 1 Hive Tyrant Kit and enough bone swords / lash whips to equip 3 guard and 6 warriors!

will start on the second Tervigon after we see this tyrant through.

Also wanted to throw up a setup of the room so you see just how much room a work with, having a work place to actually paint is CRITICAL. having a place where you can leave off and just clean once a week is a must in regards to getting miniatures done, the more distractions the hard it is to get what you want done.

Right Side so ALOT of space just to do mini's but i figure if you have enough space to actually almost assembly line it you can really get alot more done!

Also another thing that can really make your life easier Organization!! Everything ive read about building armies if you have a good place to build and a well organized place to do it you can get it done faster and honestly who wants to prep everything every time you want to do some painting?! na, you want to sit down and just start doing it! Being able to find that bit, paint, tool, glue, terrain, magnet ect ect ect quickly and effectively just makes the entire process smoother.
Found this great bin at a home depot in my search for a way to organize all the extra bits from models, thsi bucket style case just rocks, can pour out the peices find what your looking for and pour it back in.




Paint! how do you organize it how do you find it again!? theres just to many so where in the hell do ya put them?!

Did alot of random reading about that as well. There is a company that makes actual racks for paints but i found the cost ABSURD and sense they are way far away the shipping would be killer! so i decided to just go with a lazy susan with a 2inch foam block in the bottom to raise it. this way i can spin it find the paints im looking for scheme do my painting and put them back at the end of the night, easy to find and put away with out spending alot of looking at tops of lids trying to find the right color.

Anyway back to painting! ill do a post at the end of the night of where im at with the Tyrant.

Alright, SO! this round sense this is going to be my Primary I figured i was really going to focus on this one. (bunches one self in the face..) Rather then Just give my Model the Red, Red, Orange/Orange, yellow with a Large Base coat brush I decided to go at it with a Detail Brush!
Hell of a Model lets treat it that way!
So!
Based the Tyrant with the Same Mechrite Red, then Washed with Black Heavily as I do with all of them, then rather then going Full out with the red like i do it Focused only on the details with the red. sadly just by doing that it has made my painting speed drop dramatically but hey big brush slap the paint, small slow and thoughtful!
Already loving it with only one coat of red, going to finish the red tomorrow on the rest of the Miniature then start the next color, would love input on the color the the wings membrane!

already drooling and its only 1 color! just think 2 more to go!

So.... Sense i already have a hive tyrant painted the my Scheme i decided to give this guy some uniqueness to the rest of my army. people hopefully will look at him and go herm whats this guy again??! thats not like the rest of your army but owell. As im painting it this way im actually enjoying this scheme, abit longer to paint but the detail difference is striking. Hoping to get the tail, Chest and legs painted the scheme to see how i like it before i go with the second bottom, arms and heads. but digging it so far. Let me know watcha think about the change, it may not fit my army's scheme even though its the same colors in a different style but hey Nids are always Evolving and who doesn't want a Swarm lord to Look unique to there army!!!
Will be doing the plating next to finish the scheme so the main difference to the model will be the skin.

The yellow on the swarm lord is a lot more vibrant, did you change your application of the yellow?

Different yellow and different application rather then applying fully on the model I focused each color as a high light rather then as a base coat which changed it dirastically. Also doing skin dots sense I did plating dots to keep the theme.

Norn:
No name atm, need to figure out the fluff for the name if anything sense it's so alike to nights I would expect it to be a off shoot of his/her fleet.

awesome, not sure if I like the bloody termies coming out of mommy though :/ I feel they would have a more "clean" or simply slimy birth but thats just me. I love it though

I have to say your color scheme is AMAZING its really well done i typically dont like super colorful nids but yours look fantastic! Also you are the MOST dedicated painter I have ever seen, and dedicated tyranid player for that matter! I applaud you! haha. Also itd be great to see some conversions if you dont have some planned already. Keep up the good work!

Ya i figure i would paint them the style they should be then at least make the bases and recesses of the models like they still have fluid on them thats drying, wouldn't go the full red i did on "Momma" lol...

Sense i went a bit stur crazy with the fact i wasent sure how it would look like in the end I decided to go after the main body with a vengeance to night. Sense the model has at the very least 13 pieces to paint i wanted to at least get the base close to being completed.

I really wish I could convert and modify models but I have the hardest time green stuffing it after the fact to make it look right. Basing wise what I picked is vanilla enough that its easy to paint make and looks allot better then a plastic base so many people leave there bases stock and it takes away from so many good paint schemes!!!. Painting wise getting feed back from everyone here has really motivated me to keep up so that I can get more feed back and become a better painter and I want to thank all of you for the great feed back!!!! I did about a month worth of trudging through forums before I had a good enough grip on what I wanted to do and how I wanted to do it. Hopefully it will pay off in the end with a nid army that will make any enemy flee before the maul of the great devourer!!!

Also, glad to see I was not the only one who saw that flying base and though "This could be the most badass Swarmlord"
Although, in my mind I thought of converting those talon feet to something more like the claws on a dragon's feet so that it would make sense for the Tyrant to be walking on them too

looks great Evan, like the new use of the colors it's not to different from the older one. so maybe you could use it for special units.

as for the membrane, green maybe? I know it maybe is a bit to much contrast wise, but I'm gonna try it when I get to painting your scheme.

Nice striking colors. not big on the smooth changes. Just super contrast from one color to the next. Going to draw the eye every time.
