Can Nidzilla Survive fifth edition?

I run a fairly typical nidzilla army and I am worried about some of the changes that may or may not happen in fifth edition. I am looking for some advice. What can I do to keep my nidzilla in fifth edition? I have spent to much time, effort, and money to just give it up. From what I can see they are only hurting nidz. The only rule that helps us is that force weapons instant kill now, so we are immune to that. I am just trying to keep my army intact. Why does GW have to mess things up?

Hmm, define the exact changes that will affect you - I'm not too familiar with the exact new rules, they're all over the place at the moment...
The scoring system may state that only troops count as scoring units, but if you have a reasonable amount of troops you should be able to hold some things, and at the end of the day you may not be able to hold objectives, which may affect some matches, but you can always blow the faces off any enemy scorers with relative ease.
Also, as a benefit, that weird Run/March rule might let fexes and walkrants move d6 in the shooting phase, providing they don't assault/shoot/not in 12 inches of anything. This would be a massive boon for a CC fex.

I'm not too hot on the new rules, so please correct me if I'm wrong.

New rules rumours are all over the place and to be honest we won't know till the release date. But suffice to say that unless they take away our elit fex slot then nidzilla will remain a strong player. Even if they cannot hold points, they can still lay down fire or charge into close combat - a hord or three of stealers or termagaunts should be able to sit on the objectives

I agree. I think that if you run CC Nidzilla you may be in a beter predicament but, I run shooty nidzilla. (This can easily be fixed with magnets.) I think that will be what I do. CC Nidzilla will be nasty with the run rule. MCs no longer get the rerole through cover. This hurts nidzilla bad. Shooty nidzilla will no longer be able to effectively stop vehicles. Things like these are what make me mad about fifth edition.

Why would they take away our Elite Fexes?

But to second what overmind said, the rumor mill is all over the place. There is no way to tell what will happen until the 5th ed is in stores. We have to hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

the 5th edition PDF thats floating around is not the true 5th ed, its a older version for field testing and isn't any specific edition. it might become the 5th ed and it might not aswell. the real 5th ed might not be as bad as we all feared

I ran a fair armored company with sentinals, chimeras, and only four heavy tanks (people actually give me compisition points instead of yelling cheese!) The new rules pdf says that the only scoring units are "non-vehicle troops." So basically my two years and six to seven hundred dolars are down the drain. I have no way to win. The best I can hope for is to eliminate all my opponent's troops and get a draw. (BTW... Ya, I'm a little upset)

When it says scoring unit what does it exactly mean by that? Does it mean that it can take table quarters and objectives? If that's all, then nidzilla should be fine - just blast away until you've made up for the points your opponent has for table quarters/objectives. He can't get many points if he has barely anything left on the board!

I don't see why any of you are concerned. Fifth edition is at least five years away, assuming they release all of the 4th ed codices first, and that they alternate between 40k, Warhammer, and LotR releases. Just enjoy the armies the way they are, and remember that lists such as nidzilla and armored company are a popular part of the established background now. GW will find a way to accomodate them.

Huh? Carnogaunt - most of the information that agrees withine the rumours is that 5th edition is slated for a late release this year or an early release next year. Whilst I agree that it is impossible to predice what is really going to happen, I think the time scale can be agreed upon.
Personally I think it is next year / christmas time this year - mainly because of hte anniversary of warhammer - which I suspect will be the summer focus.

i have heard 5th edition is this summer, but its just rumors. and we don't know anything yet because the PDF leak is not the true 5th edition, its just a early draft, no specific edition. we can only assume its one of the early versions, but nothing is sure yet.

b) @psycichobo: If it comes along the way the rumors say, blasting everything away doesn't do you any good, because victory points don't count anymore. Exapmlpe: 4 objectives on the table, your opponent holds 1 you hold 0 he wins.
