Back to the Deepstriking thing that Christars brought up on page 2...
If you scatter onto the Deepstriking unit from the offset, then the squad being scattered into must make an Armour/Inv save on one model (or aim for a 6+ on a D6 for those models without armour or Inv saves). If it fails, remove it (including multiwound models). If it passes (or rolls a 6 for those without armour or Inv saves), then it remains. The Deepstriking unit is destroyed: it can be considered mowed down entirely.
If you scatter near a unit so that you can place at least one model down initially, then continue to try to complete the circles around that central unit. When you can not place any more due to the 1 inch rule, make armour/inv/D6 save tests for all of those models in the squad being scattered into within 1 inch. Same rules as above: fail the save, you lose a model. Those models in the Deepstriking unit that aren't able to make it into the circles are considered destroyed.
ALTERNATIVES:
- Only models with Inv Saves can take their Inv Save. All others must get a 6 on a D6 to survive
- Simpler/"fairer": just roll for a 4+ on models trying to save.
Note that you can not Deepstrike directly (ie you aim to place the initial model onto, or within 1 inch, of other models) onto another unit via this method unless the models are specifically designed to be destroyed (such as Spore mines). This limits attempts at 'sniping' more powerful models. If you do Deepstrike directly onto another unit, and the deepstriker isn't designed to be destroyed, then the Deepstriking unit is automatically destroyed as is normal.
