Not true! I had one crawl up my ear when I was 6. Ignored it and it went away. Never been scared of them since!

When organising adult teams for such activities as umpiring hockey games, assume that you are talking to children with 3 minute memories.
They may hate you for the weekly emails to remind everyone as to who is reffing, but at least they won't cause your team to miss a match and so cost your A grade side 0.5 points on the table...

Further hint: Don't assume that your umpire rosters will be distributed by the people who are distributing everything to everyone. Do it yourself and save yourself the hassle later on of finding out that people are 3 rosters behind the times.
