TAU!!! HOT? OR NOT?

I have a quick question about the Tau,actually its about really about the Tau and the Kroot.
Why can't the Tau take them as mercs?! It would help them out greatly in a varity of ways.
A) Close Combat, i.e. power weapons
B)Cheap effictive CC sheild
C) Master Shpaers with thier hubbada hubbada powers, minor yes but magicy none the less.
D)More firepower....

It's to do with fluff - the Tau insist that the Kroot fight for them on the Tau's terms, so do not allow them to be really independant. Also, the general aim of mercenary Kroot is to travel to areas outside of the Tau empire to gather efficient genetic material for absorption, since the DNA of the creatures in the Tau empire has already been absorbed. Since the Tau aren't going to be wandering around at the other end of the galaxy, but instead defending their empire, the Kroot are better off acquiring foreign DNA by going and working in other, far-flung areas of the galaxy, and this is generally easier by becoming employed by other armies.

I think that's the reason, anyway, it's what the codex suggests...

PS: Where did you find the Kroot Shaman powers? I'm not sure where they are or which book they're in...

The Shamen powers are really nothing more than a foot note in the Krrot Merc. pdf that GW has out. it says that can have minor powers...don't know about points for them though....just wondering! But now the question is answerd...

I think tau are good if i play them, but that is mostly because i can pour on the shots instead of swallowing them.

Hey I have a quick question about Tau. I was thinking about this for a while and can't seem to come up with a answer( and no one at my club could really give me a answer either). Um.....*lost train of thought. ....* Oh yeah! Why don't the Tau have some form of power weapon? According to thier fluff thier supposed to be very advanced, they are probly even more advanced than the Imperium in a lot of ways....Also why don't they have some better protection for the tanks? Yes I know you could dissruption pods and decoy lunchers on them but honestly.....is that the best the Etherals could come up with?! For crying out loud Orks have better upgrades for thier tanks.....defensivly and offensivly....kinda sad really since the Tau have spent a great deal of them fighting Orks....*sigh* This with what I have said before about the Tau is a major reason why my army is now for sale....lol!

Tanks: probably because they depend more on speed and firepower than heavy and bulky armor

Yeah......that kinda answers my question but really it doesn't. And for another thing FireWarriors do have great guns they just haven't figured out how to use them just yet lol. Also why would a HammerHead whant speed? Okay yes fine the glancing rule but wouldn't it be better to have the thing parked somewhere where its going to be constant pain in the ass for the enemy? I just don't understand why GW never though of giving the Tau something really intresting and dynamic.

A single Ork!...There goes that BS 4 you paid for..........I mean I wouldn't mind at all paying say 5pts or so extra for FireWarriors that could actually hold thier own against Gaurd.....And maybe some kind of special wepon maybe? Like when I first herd of the bonding knife I thought it was a close combat weapon similary to a power sword.....just smaller or something....but no....alll it does is allows you to re-group......and its more or less completly useless in CC........

There's a point, Why have the ethereals got a BS score when they don't carry any guns at all? That makes no sense seeing as all they carry are either symbols of Office, or an Honor Blade and one model comes with a drone controller.

Then again, the Broodlord has a BS score, I believe. Which too is also silly.
Tau seem to be a very hit-and-miss army with most people I know, they either love them or hate them. The Tau do have some extremely good tanks in comparison to most armies, they're skimmers that also count as troop choices (I think the devilfish), which means a lot of dashing about the field forcing armies to run and hunt them.
I've always contemplated the idea of using the fish of fury tactic in conjunction with an intercepting Kroot squad, to fire at the enemy, then before they get too close send out the kroot to assault their crippled unit, before diving into the fish and zooming off. But meh, I'm no Tau player...

Its cool, also Kroot can't ride inside of DevilFishes. Only Tau FireWarriors can. Yes that means that they are resevred only for FireWarrior use, no steath suits for them me hardies !
Also has anyone been able to come up with a good reason as to why the Tau don't have any power weapons? Or and rending guns? Or force/void/shinny protector thingies that every other tank in 40k* has?

* Except for the IG....they don't get shinny things cause they thinks its badz

something I don't get.... The Ethereals use their honour blades, but they aren't power weapons!! Sure, +2 strength is useful, but it won't really help when your blade bounces off everything

:-/Exaclty my friend! Once you get past the Tau's amazing range and firepower you find that they are really quiet broken. Yes I know I said they have great firepower cause they do! But it seems to me that GW almost completly screwed them over in close combat. Honestly I don't know what they where thinking when they set the Tau in stone......For me the Tau are a more broken army than SM are ....and they where my first army.........and it hurts me too say that
