Which is annoying cos it is what makes the price so high.... If you take off the cost of the tanks and suits then it would be just over 600pounds. Most tau players what are going to buy a manta already have an army, they dont want to be forced into buying all that with it. Stupid. That, and I was just informs of something called a VAT (Value [something] Tax). It's a tax that Europe has set up for certain companies, and it only HAS to apply to purchasers from said continent. It comes out to about 17.5%.
Thing is, they maintain that amount even with customers (even reatilers) outside of the area. From what I understand, it's to prevent situations such as having relatives elsewhere order it, then going to pick it up during the annual christmas trip. Still, it's 17.5% GW gets to pocket from us US residents.
I received these etails from a fellow coworker who works in our shipping and receiving. Still, word of mouth isn't usually accurate. If anyone knows any definite facts I'd love to hear it.
Well the good thing about that is that, if you're visiting England, and make a big enough purchase to care, you can fill in a small mountain of paperwork and get that money back when you leave the country (as I am not a citizen of the UK, I technically don't have to pay their taxes). I'm not sure exactly how it works, but anything that gives me a Forgeworld discount is something that I will not argue about.
