Hia, boys, monsters and girls!
I'm a new 'nid player ready to enter the stages of consuming the worlds of the galaxy! So, my first goal will be a post-exterminatus force. So I'm speaking creatures able to survive an exterminatus assault, so Carnifexes, Hive tyrants and rippers. I might throw in a few units of gaunts (dropped, but not as fluffy) or stealers.
Anyway, I'll be using this thread to post general advances and improvements of the army as it progresses and grows in size.
Two carnifexes are already finished and a few test gaunts have been painted, so no more ranting; Pictures!
My first two carnifexes were bought off E-bay, already assembled and magnetized pretty bluntly. My creative drive went into override as I realized the seller was located no more than 1km from me, so getting onto my bicycle I went to pick them up and had them secure in my apartment 2h after winning the auction!
The creativity burst didn't allow me to remodel the first carnifex, so I had to paint it at once.
I picked the colour scheme of an ad I found at university, which I figured would look very good on nids.
*COME TO PAPA!*
The second, which I got in the same package as the first was similarly magnetized, but having spent some of the creative momentum on the first fex, I had calmed down enough to do a little repositioning on this dude. I fashioned a base for him from the base which he came with and added a broken Space Nazi terminator to the base. As he was going to be wielding a Venom Cannon, I added some melting to the base as well.
And here he is in all his gory glory!
Having taken the brunt of an assault cannon (guess how the termie was armed before being chopped...) I mauled his right side pretty badly with a hobby knife. But don't worry, he'll regenerate :-) (Eventually...)
I'll probably be adding bits of armour over the horrible arm joints now that I have more armour bits.
Onward, to glory!
The third and fourth Carniefaecas are on the modeling table, getting a better magnetizing than what the dude I bought the two first from had made.
The third is going to be a shooty fex, swiveling around to bring his weaponry to bear on a new target. As you can probably work out from the screws, he's been magnetized, but not in the traditional way from what I've gathered from the Hive, so I'll show how If anyone else wants to try it.
I simply filled him up with large square neodyne magnets and filled him with glue.
Then I cut off the tip of the arms and added the screw heads to the tip.
and the screw was inserted into the back of the heads of the fexie. Works like wonders and the limbs can still be positioned in any way you might want. If they slide around, I'll just add a tiny ball of blue-tack and they stay in place just fine.
Well, that's all for now! There might be more pics of the fourth once I've decided upon which post to go for on him. If you have a good suggestion for a ninjafex (as I believe they are called) feel free to suggest all you like, but I make no guarantees on following it! ;D
