To Australian Warhammer/40k players

A friend of mine is going to the USA in a few days, and we decided to see what the price of warhammer is like in the states. Considering the conversion rate for our currency, generally we only add a few dollars to the price of whatever it is now.

To our surprise the cost of warhammer is incredibly cheaper in the United States. I've been looking at getting the Tyranid Assault Brood, but didn't have the $300. After converting the currency it is only roughly $190 in the united states. Thats a pretty big saving. Needless to say, my friend is coming back with a Tyranid Assault brood.

Moral of the story, if you're going to the sates, load up on warhammer!

I checked a few weeks ago when the announcement of those box sets was released and found that even ordering it up from over there, i'd save ~ 80-90 AUD on those sort of box sets. The UK is not so bad either, with an estimated saving of 70-80 AUD on those sets when ordering via the internets.
And given that we already would save ~170 AUD within the box set due to the models you get within the set (compared to their individual prices), it is nearly irresistable for me... I am only waiting for the next edition book and the release of FAQs before i go further with purchases.

I just figured that many of the people on this forum already knew this as we already knew that we get boned horribly on prices

That's still heaps good. Just out of curiosity, how much was the shipping and handling for those boxes?

I am making an assumption of 15 AUD on international shipping. I could be wrong with that though... i haven't done it but intend to when i decide on what i want to buy.

I assume that the International rate will be higher than that... so i am only making guesses based on the highest rate (excluding the express shipping).

As a further "GAH!" to Aus/NZ players, the GW 40K Website STILL isn't updated from when the Eldar were released... Though I did see somewhere (can't remember how to get to that page, sadly) that the AusNZ site was starting to get an overhaul so it will get updated sometime in the near future.
Whether this is "near future in a few months" or "near future in terms of M41" remains to be seen.

The only thing stopping me from ordering internationally is that A I don't have a credit card of any sort (need a bloody job..) and B I prefer to support my local hobby shop (I'm such a sentimental).

Lucky australilans. In canada, everything is more expensive even with the loonie being higher.45 bucks for a gaunt boxed set compared to the U.S. 35 even though our loonie is superior. Bloody americans.

Luck Australians? It's at least 50 dollars for us to get a box set of gaunts. Everything here is ridiculously higher than America and Canada. I hear the Canadian currency is doing well, and surely it can't be too expensive to have stuff shipped to Canada from America.

It's just GW's profiteering simply because they can get away with it.

I mean, even in America can any of you honestly say a box of plastic gaunts is worth $35?

but battleforces or APOC deals. I rarely actually go out and buy a tactical squad of marines or a box of gaunts. Might as well pick up a Battleforce

Warhammer has been and always will be overpriced.

Problem is its only worth it if
A)You take the time to make it look fantastic
or
B) It sees a lot of table top action.

Why not order offline? the shipping costs may be some but see if it is less expensive perhaps?
