Never liked this idea and never will.
Its a fantasy world etc but really this is were i draw the line.

Besides how can dumb orks be so advanced and tecnically accurate to even try to do such thing... theres a big diference on arranging some metal freaky looted tanks and reviving such beast as a carnifex and do cirurgical procedures to such level...

Sorry this convo doesnt hold any coerence to me... its fun and all but I dont see it happening in 40k.

I dont see why this couldnt work from a fluff point of view, and i think itd be too cool to not let an ork player use this as a dred or whatever.

Similarly, has anyone seen the 'captured' nids in GW Manchester (in the Arndale centre)?

They have similar 'anti-hivemind devices' on their heads, i think theyre allied with some Ordo Xenos themed army or something.
Very cool...... would be cool fluff excuse to ally with nids too. Basalisks and 'fexs anyone?

In the Black Library book "Storm of Iron", a story revolving around a warband of Iron Warriors and their invasion of an Imperial World, there is a mention of a Tyranid Ship in thrall to the Chaos forces.

Its appearance was very, very brief, in which it was employed in the preliminary deployment of the main Chaos forces. The background behind it was that it was captured by the Iron Warriors fleet during an attack on a Hive Fleet. During the course of the battle, they managed to isolate it from the rest of swarm and dragged it far away from help. There, they proceeded to break its will by torment and torture. A cabal of sorcerors and pet psykers also used their powers to sever its synaptic link to its fleet and brainwash its vast mind to their purposes. Eventually after this battle of attrition, it finally relented to Chaos and now it has became a grotesque, mutated mockery of its former glory; a wretched slave to the Dark Gods. Such a massive beast in their thrall attested to the dominance and strength of the Iron Warriors, and they viewed it as a symbol of their power.

It was something like that if I recalled correctly, I've read the book years ago. If anyone find that I got some parts wrong, do correct me.

Orks have this kind of "want thing" about them.

Their red vehicles go faster for no explicible weapon. Their shootas simply will not work in the hands of a non-ork. If they can do (please do not swear) like that, why can't they patch up a half dead fex and put it to good use? ;D

And to be fair, seeing as it IS Orks, they could easily just be using REALLY wonky tech to send electrical impulses straight to the nervous system, without even themselves understanding quite what they've done... I think it looks great

Actually it isn't a carnifex, it's just a mechanical chassis that didn't have any armour, so the orks had to improvise, they found a dead fex, hollowed it out and just stuck it over the chassis. The reason the orks seem to be "taming" the beast is because there is a gretchin in the armoured skull of the robot looking through the multiple windows on the front, and the orks need to make sure the gretchin stays in line. This was warboss Facebeata Bugsquisha's plan all along, they get a cool looking robot dinosaur, and they also put the Imperium in a tizzy trying to figure out how they did it... it could still use some red paint though.

But is the fex a synapse creature (shame that I can't remember)? Because if it isn't, it would sort of make sense that you could gain control over something that isn't connected to the Hive Mind, right? Of course not without a fight. :3
