Which fantasy army fits these criteria?

Hey guys,

Can someone with some fantasy experience tell me which army/armies would fit my playing style please?

Wish list:

Offensive; no gun line waiting around for them to come to me rubbish.

Magical; should be way above average and not limited to damage dealing but capable of using many of the lores effectively.

Has some form of shooty unit/war machine.

Has some scary heavy cavalry.

Dragons maybe?

No more bones (I want a variation from painting my bleach bone nids).

I'm very poorly versed in the knowledge of Fantasy, but what you have could be... Lizardmen? Dwarves?

Empire. Ton O' Knights to take the fight to them with only a few great cannns or HBVs in the back. I think you can get a -1 armor save with empire knights too. If you can settle for a pegasus or griffon, empire has your card... I don't think they have a dragon.

Chaos could be your friend too. They really rock in campaigns since heavy knights are troops. Plus dragons and demons

Chaos sounds good, has everything you want, plenty of magic and magic giving troops (demons), even the biggest baddest cannon (Hellcannon) in the game.

Yup chaos tzeentch and khorne (not sure if the gods cannot combine like this but you get the point) You have wicked magic with hard hitting knights ect...

lizardmen are good if you don't want to go chaos. just rember chaos only have 2 ranged units. lizards get slain mage preists there one of the best magic users in the game and can choose from most lores.

Id go more towards lizard men. They follow every one of your criteria.... except one. The shooty war machine. But insteady they have salamanders which are shooty AND mobile, muc better.

I'm going to throw High Elves at you as an option.

Any army can be offensive, it just depends on how you draw your list up.

Their mages can take the High Lore exclusive to them, or pick from any of the lores in the rulebook as well as chooing from some very nasty magical items to augment their already fearsome magic.

Repeater Bolt Throwers are very much "for the win", and you can take up to 4 in 2k

Has some scary heavy cavalry.

Dragon Princes are brilliant offesnively, and immune to fire!

Can you say "Star Dragon"? 7 Strength 7 attacks...

High Elves don't really have heavy cav.. They have the Dragon Knights?? or something like that. Not really heavy with a 3 or 4+ save

Dragon Princes... The name is in the post above you.

If you think they're not heavy, you haven't been hit by a unit of them with a 4+D6 static combat res that throws out 11 S5 attacks and always strikes first. They'll mince most fighting ranks, blitz you on combat res and cut you down running or make you crumble to dehydrated milk.

A Hight Elf list with 10 Dragon Princes, a Star Dragon, 3 Bolt Throwers and not much else won the UK Grand Tournement... Dragon Princes are scary.

high elves or lizards. they match pretty close. it comes down to if you want range or not. if you wwant range then use high elves. if you dont need it then use lizardmen.

I would say High Elves, as lizardmen calvary is garbage having to make stupidity checks to move.

Empire would work if you want to go for the more non-elite infantry mass army rather than High Elves expensivo infantry. Plus empire gets the hellblaster, great cannon, and rocket battery I guess they have mortars but those are BLEH. Their magic can be great assuming you take a strong lore.

Still I think empire spamming super heavy cav with great cannons and HBVs with like 2 musker. Its super hardcore gamer cheese but it wins.

However... I dont like the look of lizardmen so they're out i'm afraid. Empire are not "fantastical" enough so them too. That leaves me with High Elves and Chaos.

Now I never knew the HEs could be played aggressively. That was my major concern with them. Chaos do look good and they have the new daemons coming out so maybe. Not sure I get that flying disk though. Im surprised Dark Elves wern't mentioned because in my ineducated mind I put them as the agressive version of the HEs. And I hear that conversely to the HEs they get +1 to cast? Can someone clarify why no one said them?

if you don't want to go with lizards then high elfs are the best. they fit most of what you wonted so go with em.
