Removing a Tervigon's birthing sac

Hi all. I own two Tervigons, both painted nice, but I just can't see myself playing both of them in the same list in 8e. Maybe something will change when our codex drops, but if not much does I'd like to pop off the belly so I can actually fit the heavy weapons properly.

I'm an idiot and didn't magnetize. Has anyone tried to remove such a large piece of plastic from a superglued model? Is it pretty much impossible? In other cases I'd just break the arm off or whatnot and fix it. Not sure if that's even an option with this thing.

The thing is plastic glue works by melting the plastic, the melting element then evaporates and the plastic sets again. As a result a properly done plastic glue bond is basically reformed plastic. So as you can appreciate you can't just pop the part off.
Sometimes you can indeed pop a part off with some force, but a chunk like that is going to be very hard to break off without doing some damage. Even if you do get it off the other problem is that you'd need to repair the surface area, unlike a joint where there's nothing visual, the area you're going to expose is going to be fully on view.


Honestly I'd say it might be easier to keep both or sell one second hand.

If you actually used superglue instead of plastic concrete I've heard good things about sticking it in a freezer overnight, but be careful if you don't want to snap off anything else.

Hmmm. Well while stripping models with methylated spirit I noticed it turns superglue to jelly (it doesn't touch plastic cement though). Maybe you could paint methylated spirit into the joint so as not to strip off all the paint?

If you want to pop it off try drilling a hole into it sufficient to us ea small screwdriver to lever it off - they're surprisingly effective and less dangerous than a knife. Alternatively make the Tyrannofex guns wrap round the birthing sack, its what I did in the end as I didn't magnetise either but use the Tfex occasionally.

Yeah at this point I think I'm just going to use some greenstuff or other bio-weapon bits to extend it around the sac. If it's got the Acid Spray or Rupture Cannon it'll be pretty obvious which of the two beasties it is supposed to be.

It's fiddly to do, I split the feeder pipes in half and used some flower arranging wire to extend them around the baby bump. Then it was a mix of milliput and green stuff to bulk out the pipes. I then added unwound bits of string dipped in PVA glue, then coated the lot in thinned liquid greenstuff to try and blend it all together. The hardest part is getting the wire and plastic pipes to match up, stretch round and look like its affected by gravity in some way at least.
