Dimachaeron Clarification From Forgeworld

So aye, last week I mailed FW expressing my dissatisfaction with their rushed IA:Xenos book, including a paragraph about Hierodules still being too expensive and/or not effective/tough enough with a side helping of "this Dimachaeron rule provides only half it's benefit" and today got a response:

Thanks for the email, currently your rules team have requested we gather as many questions as we can related to the new index books and rules that may not be present, clear or need addressing in future FAQ's.

As such we are not able to answer individual questions as they come in but rather add them to our list to send over to the designers as requested to address at a later date.



Rest assured, we will tag and categorize your email and forward it on and soon we should see an FAQ for the new data sheets and units that we have had questions about.



Our rules team have already made an FAQ for the Dimachaeron which is as follows

Rule should be:



When Targeting Infantry units, each hit roll of a 6+ made with the weapon is resolved at Strength x2 and Damage D6.

So there you go, one issue fixed until a proper FAQ is out.  Which should be about 8 pages.  Now, to e-mail them with thanks and to point out that "categorized" doesn't have a "z" in it...tsk.  lol

Cool! That's great. However I can't just take your sayso. I can't go into a local tournament and say "a guy from the hive forum said FW says so." They need to put this up on the community website.

Rule should be:







Shrouding Spores: Your opponent must subtract 6 from hit rolls for ranged weapons that target <HIVE FLEET>
units within 3" of any friendly <HIVE FLEET> Malanthropes. This penalty is not cumulative with the same
penalty from VENOMTHROPES.


In addition, the points per model for Malanthropes was incorrectly listed as 90 points. The correct value is 9 points.

Good job! Now we only need to know what use Leaper-killer is when it can't actually end Dima's move on a ruin. Worse still, from how it's worded you can't leap over anything, not even the lowest Swarm. Even though you can end your move REALLY HIGH on top of some terrain that isn't a ruin.

When this model moves, do not count any vertical distance it moves against the total it may travel.

They should've just given it keyword [FLY], this creative stuff kind of fails.

Why can't you move over a ruin?

I hope they faq the leaping rule to read like Harlequin Flip Belts: ignore terrain and models. We'll see! At least they confirmed that the maw attack is a typo and will be fixed.

Why can't you move over a ruin?

Monsters can only end their move on the ground floor of ruins, pg 248. Although the wording could be interpreted as you could move over terrain pieces, but then you have the basic rules on pg 177 that prohobits moving over other units or terrain features such as walls. You can however, move vertically in order to climb or traverse any 'scenery', whatever that is. Anything without walls I guess?
