Hey guys. Recently I was exposed to a supper cheddar concept for my space wolves via introducing allies, and I wanted to post my list for critiques and possible ways to improve.

4 detachments(works with 3 for ITC format but this is just a max out cheese version). 1850

Formation Detachment(this is the core of the army premise):

Wolfkin Formation

    4x 15 man squads of fenresian wolves

Company of the great wolf:

HQ- Wolf Priest(vanilla)

Elite- 2x Iron Priest on Thunderwolf

Fast Attack

1x Thunderwolf Cavalry

    -Pack leader, Stormshield+Powerfist

    - 3x cav, stormshield + powerfist

    - 1x cav, stormshield + Chainsword

Combined Arms Detachment- Dark Angels

HQ- Librarian, ML2

Troops- 2x Scout Squad, sniper rifles on all but vanilla character

Lord of War- Azrael

Allied Detachment- Grey Knights

HQ- Librarian- ML-3

Troop- 1x Strike Squad(vanilla)

SO. The way this plays out is I join Azrael, the wolf priest, and both librarians to the 60 man wolfkin unit. Because of Azrael, they all get a 4++ invuln. Because of the wolf priest, the entire unit gets a 6+ Feel no pain. And because of the GK librarian, I can probably boost that 4++ to a 3++. The DA librarian is there for moral support/powers/look out sirs.

But this is a list based around a beastly huge footprint deathstar that on the charge could even bring down a Wraithknight. And if it fails, it's still a 64+ wound tarpit. Obviously I'm not tailoring this to charge a WK, but that's just the kind of power this unit is rocking. Thoughts?

Is it fearless?

It'd be interesting to face this with my Eldar, trying to land tons of pinning after dropping Ld by -3 through psychic powers. Fairly solid deny the witch may help you with that though.

I wonder how nasty it would be for barrage to land centred on the pivotal characters though when they'll be racking up 30 odd hits as they can't really miss.

Are iron priests an elite slot?

I think that recent update moved them to hq.

Battlescribe has both profiles and the lgs i play at opted to follow the White Dwarf response that for this cause you can use either

The wolf priest makes them fearless and other chars keep their ld high. Edit: azrael also has fearless.

EDIT: Also on the barrage thing, that's valid/important. HOWEVER, thanks to the GW gods and giving marines new powers, I can use that DA librarian/others to try for the power to reroll saves.

4++ or 3++ rerollable? Good luck with that barrage.

I'm not familiar with Wolfkin formation. How are 4 units in one unit? Assuming that is their formation special rule. As with most deathstars, the problem is that they really can be punked by not having good targets to chose. If it were me with my 5 flyrant list, I'd get everything flying and just ignore it for the game. I'd kill the rest of your army and outscore you. Or I'd feed you worthless units. My last big tournament I feed my opponents wolfstar gargoyles (by ending movement 1 inch away and just staying) and took them out of the game for all intents and purposes. That's the major weakness with deathstars, I don't have to kill it, I just have to make it irrelevant.

Yeah, the formation is 2-4 fenresian wolf units(upto 15 strong) to be combined. Gives them furious charge and monster hunter as well as support to outflankers.

And its certainly true the weakness of thr list is multiple units for board coverage, but it is a 63ish man strong unit where multiple characters could split off to score or a multicharge could pull opponents off multiple objectives simultaneously cause of the unit size.

And the cav can do work obviously, including splitting off characters for multiple scoring.

I dont think its an end all list but i think itd give a lot of armies trouble
