New Tyranid miniatures? Nah, but it's Aliens. :D

I wonder if this could make some nice Tyranid minis. Maybe I am thinking of this after reading someones post here about Alien Nids.

What do you think, yeah for Nids or no?



I like the ones of the group of 5 in the middle right going downwards. From my angle can't tell if they are on all 4s like gaunts or make some good stealers.

*edit* I wonder if this will have a Space Hulk feel to it or not.

Super cool, had forgotten about this KS. I'd personally use the aliens as lictors as I only have one of those. But, I'd get those whole thing for those Predator models. Oooooo, I love me some predator.

They're on all fours. They're essentially the dog aliens from Alien3. They're significantly smaller than 40k gaunts.

As someone who backed it, I wish I could forget this KS. Years later and still waiting for half the miniatures, and the stuff I do have, I've had to pick up at my own expense from gaming conventions that Prodos has attended. Never received a single item in the post, meanwhile they're selling stuff at retail. Some websites are even stocking the items at less than we paid for them during the KS. It's shameful.

One thing I will say is that the quality of the miniatures in terms of detail and material is absolutely superb.

How, shoddy. Doesn't KS have a way to communicate with them, or once it's done are we at their mercy to uphold their end of the deal? I've only done two KS, one was prime, the other is... approaching the worry point. But I have faith.

Sadly Kickstarter itself doesn't deal with a project once it's funded. Prodos also deleted the KS page a few months after funding, so that was scary! Since then on Facebook they've admitted that they used the AvP KS money to fund their previous miniature game that had run out of money, and then had to sell AvP at retail to make enough money to ship to the actual AvP backers. Every few months they post a statement promising shipment of a new wave of minis, which mysteriously don't materialise in the postal system for most backers, and then the minis appear in retail stores. I consider myself lucky to have been in the position to pick up at least a few boxes of stuff from gaming conventions, since most people can't.

I've backed around 10 projects on KS and this is the only one I've ever had any serious problems with. There are lots of projects that are delayed for various reasons, but none treat their backers like this. I've often had to wait long after the estimated delivery date for items, but I've never been scared that I won't actually receive those items except when dealing with Prodos...

See what Neisseria said and reading what happened to Robotech kickstarter, this is why I don't do them. For me, if it's not in the store, they will not get my money. I hate paying for something that hasn't come out yet and hasn't arrived.

That is because Kickstarter is not just about selling what is being developed, it is about an alternative way of getting investment capital by allowing numerous people to provide the money as opposed to a board of directors or some fat cat.

They in turn promise to deliver a certain return based on that investment. Sometimes it pans out, sometimes it gets diverted, and sometimes you get scammed, just like with any investment.

At the very least, one should check the history of the person/company to make sure they don't have a history of doing this, either with Kickstarter or through the normal banking/stock market method, just like with any investment. It doesn't help with a new face, but it will help you avoid the known problem children.

True true Charistoph. We just get excited often and hope for the best. It can be difficult sometimes to investigate the history of company's, especially start-ups.

Sometimes, not always, but sometimes, taking that risk is worth it, and does pan-out. That's why it's a risk, possible big payout vs loss. On the table, and IRL.

Indeed. It is easy to get excited, and sometimes they pan out, even from previous deadbeats. It's just good to keep that in mind when doing any of these projects.
