Tau and changes of the new codexes

i was reading the news on BOLS and I saw that tau will have 10 new formations, new personnal systems, new rules for the eight

they become insane, with all the difficulties we can have for assault and come to close, it will be almost impossible to touch them now

I'm really afraid for our dex, unless they make another leviathan campaign with AM (if they can choose another hive fleet, it could be really nice...) and make a good surprise, change our internal balance, make a big decrease of our units like eldar had

what do you think about the new strategy of GW ?

Actually the new releases give me some (very cautious) hope for our future. There's lots of rumours floating around that we will be getting a new codex - the rumours vary as to exactly when but with most of the other armies now updated to 7th ed it can't be too far off. Every release since Necrons has been really good. Not just in terms of the rules and power boosts each army got but also in the way they make the army play like it should do in the fluff. So Necrons never die, elder run rings around everyone else and are highly specialised, space marines take and hold objectives against all comers and tau blast you away with massively superior firepower.

Even if we just get an update like the tau (a few new units and formations) I'm hoping this trend will continue and we will become the true horde army you read about that overwhelms the enemy with massive numbers. No matter how many you kill there are still millions more and you can't get them all before they eat you.

Creaturebio your positivity is great.

I hope the new codex brings great improvements too and I expect it will, however I realy hope that the duality of our army stays intact.

Currently we rule the skys this is a good thing.

Much of our fluff and our wider cultural themes and borrowed non GW background (aliens and starship troopers) does indeed describe us as a swarm army.

Possibly also an infiltrate then swarm army.

I hope GW will allow us to do both or either. 

Added to to this is the importance to realy define the tyranid psychic phase as something other than using the warp.

As you say if GW are making army mechanics both fluffier and harder. We may yet see the best codex yet.

I agree with you guys,
but I'm a little circumspect on the viability of our next codex.

We should be THE close army, so why our WS stay at 3 and can't be increase like the BS for tau, it's such a pity to see our army broken in assault because of that, no reroll, etc... low number of attack, smash attacks should be more dangerous like the stone-crusher carnifex, I want my brood of stone-crusher carni !!
we need new weapons, more concussive or increase the number of attacks with concussive

We should be one the most powerful psyker army, and we are stuck with with one table of psychic power, no impact for deny (even the tau are better with FSE), our psychic phase is a joke, I can't manage to cast 2 powers in a row, and they are just 2-3 useful
