Tyranids vs Dark Angels Battle Report

Have been playing eldar/dark eldar up until now, but have decided to move across to Tyranids as I couldn't take the shame anymore. After a solid year of painting, I've built up a decent sized horde based around a never ending swarm and a whole heap of carnifexes. Thought I'd share the link below which is to my first YouTube Tyranid report. Its against Dark Angels who brought along a Lion's Blade strike force and a load of raven wing. I have to say I'm struggling against BS4 overwatch and re-rolling jink. Any advice for dealing with both would be appreciated.

Welcome to the hive hoarder.

I've found templates to be useful against bikes. Crones have a strength six template and can make it to the bike / speeder / shroud speeder units turn one or two. This combined with flyrants electroshock grub (haywire templates) should take the shroud speeder ( sorry I've forgotten the name, tinned food all looks the same) quite soon. Plus added flyrants and crone tentaclids.

Endless hoard is tough to play, use Malenthropes for cover and synapse and throw gaunts in to combat first to soak up over watch and to screen the fexen. Or don't assault, shoot with Dakkafexes and the gaunt screen. Try mucalids and the spore formation to hamper bikes mobility.

Fantastic battle report, good summations between turns, everything looked pretty (like the smoke), very proffessional. And that terrain setup was a Tyranid players wet dream! Only Ruins and Rubble, and lots of it. With so much toe-in-cover terrain you should never ever have to jink your FMC's and your Dakkafexes should always have cover saves.
And the FAT mat is gorgeous.

You should post your army list, if you want advice.

A few things - what warlord traits allows 3 units (and non-troops) to be outflanked, is it Master of Ambush (I know it grants Infiltrate)? Still, in general you don't want to outflank Termagants as they are prone to run back home without synapse.

Why were you so cautious with the Crone turn 2? Didn't you try to strip that last hull point from the Predator with its missiles?

Vector Strike ignores cover (jink) so there's that.

A brood of Hive Guards would've been nice in your list. What synapse did you have to keep the Biovores in check?

I guess it was master of ambush. Infiltrate also allows You to outflank.

As Kark says, Master of Ambush grants infilitrate which also gives outflank. I always go on the strategic warlord traits table as there a few good ones on there.

With the crone, that was an error. I was holding him back to take out the enemy flyers, when as Tomb stated, I should have been templating bikes and speeders. As it was, the re-rollable jink on the flyers made them pretty much immune to the hive crone's ranged attacks

I've painted up some hive guards, but have found them unreliable (BS3!). I think you are right that this board, with all the cover on it, would have suited them well.

The biovores were covered by the unit of warriors in the Living artillery node. I was generally quite lucky on synpase when creatures went out of range. Am still finding it the hardest element of playing the army, particularly in the latter stages of the game
