I just checked, and it is. I have a friend who liked the epic minis, so he might be pumped about this. And BFG nid modesl would look great painted and put on a shelf in my room.

In my play testing at 2K pod spam haven't delivered so far. Thunderwolf Cavalry and IK's has been doubling out T5 pods with ease, Bloodthirsters also delete a pod per turn.

Granted it was a while ago. Do you play at 1850? Here in Sweden we have a ruling that they must shoot the closest targets measured from the muzzle of the guns, which often cause them to fire at different targets in close ranges. ITC now allows them to fire at a single target, measured from the base, which can make a significant difference.

Well, it's carnifex coming out of the pods which doesn't much matter as it's wounding on 6s plus you need an actual scatter to get on your own units.

It doesn't sound that great in Swedish meta with LoS from gun though, but that's just based testing 3 or 4 times under the ITC rules previously.

My lists float a bit but here is my podded list(s):

Core:

3 Tyrannocytes with BS

1 Flyrant with egrubs

1 Malanthrope

2 mucolids

1 dakkafex

Optional (tends to float a bit):

2 Tyrannocytes with BS

1 flyrant with egrubs (almost put it under core but I drop 2nd one occasionally and the list still functions fine, you just have to be careful)

1 brood of 3 hive guard
1 brood of pyrovore

1 crone

2 dakkafex

1 barbed or scythed heirodule (usually prefer the barbed, but scythed is awesome against bike lists)

1 bastion or ADL with 2 min broods of rippers (and drop mucolids) if I fear an alpha strike. Lets me hide and take little or no damage turn 1.

Thoughts:

I love to add a heirodule but that gets tough in 1850 unless you drop the second flyrant. I also love hive guard if I'm running 2,000 point list.

The core I am stuck on and I never vary that. The rest I keep wandering back and forth each one succeeding pretty well.

Skyhammer makes me really leery of ADL/ripper trick, I just don't trust my ability to hide if the terrain is set up goofy. Luckily for me local tourneys have been requiring that you have a LEGAL list in order to play it. No one local bought the skyhammer, so they can't play it.

Yes, making the t-cytes fire at closest target to each one with a firing arc absolutely ruins them. I couldn't make them work until ITC changed the ruling. With the change in the ruling they usually pile on as many wounds as a dakkafex does in the shooting phase. People then don't know what to do, kill them or the contents. I find them hard enough I won't run more than 2 in a friendly unless I'm running a CC army.

I run my 2 Tyrannocytes with strangler every time I can. BS2 isn't so bad with blasts. With deathspitters I might get 5 hits on a unit of tactical marines. With strangler I can average out with at least 10 hits. Each tyrannocyte when it drops in kills a full tac squad with me. Sure, you've then got to deal with the blasts late game, but that's usually not a problem for me. Keep the tcyte next to a drop pod or something you don't need dead.
