Personally I'd go with Zoanthropes. They give Synapse, are good anti-armor with the S10 Lance, and have a 3+ Inv. Save. Hive Guard are good too with the ignores cover/no line of sight gun and are T6, but I prefer Zoanthropes, so I'd recommend Zoanthropes personally.

Hive Guard are pretty reliably mediocre. Zoanthropes are really hit or miss, but when they hit, they hit hard. So what you've gotta ask your self is "Do you feel lucky?" Well, punk? Do you?

I go with Hive Guard myself, because I hate having to deal with the Psychic Test and DtW.

HG have many uses, from popping AV12 to negating jink and sniping while out of LoS, etc.

zoanthropes have some uses, like backline synapse, relatively durable scoring, WC battery. but reliable anti-armor isn't one of them. too low of a rate of fire, too many moving parts, costs too much if you take enough of them to mitigate RNjesus.

3 is enough. you will probably not often use all 3.

3 is probably more than plenty. the new models are nice, too.

I typically only see Venomthropes in broods of 1 or 2, I rarely see 3 Venomthrope broods.

If you take a ADL or a different Fortification You can take a ammo dump. It will help with re-rolls of 1's for the hive guard.

$15/ is a bit pricey. I don't know where you live, but the box is sold cheaper than that at my FLGS with the regular discount. I vote hive guard, but then I have 15. I have a problem.

Yeah, it's often worth specifying AU$ or US$ or CAN$ when talking prices on here, since several countries use Dollars, but they have different values.

Also, I seem to have been punished for referring to Hive Guard as more reliable. I got a total of 3 Hits from them out of 4 Turns of shooting on Sunday, while my Tyrant's Warp Lance blew up a Ghost Ark
