I thought I'd post a sample of the Nid lists here too, as discussion material. One thing to have in mind is that ETC is a special beast as it's a team competition were you cannot repeat the same combination of factions within the team, consisting of eight players.
Two sources + (some) fortifications are allowed, no Forgeworld.
I'm picking out Poland and Germany because they are the two best 40K ETC nations, plus Sean Nayden for 'Lictorshame' fame interest. Most countries had Leviathan represented as the secondary detachment.
here's Germany Sebastian Muellers Nids:
-------------------------------------------------
PRIMARY DETACHMENT:
Skyblight Swarm
Hive Tyrant, Wings, 2 twin-linked Devourers, Electroshock Grubs
Harpy, twin-linked heavy Stranglethorn Cannon, Cluster Spines

So, Germany and Poland bring very similar builds. Extreme air born Nids, probably to be played as counters.

What's apparent is that Skyblight + Leviathan is the way to go for pure Nids at the ETC (there were other nations going the same route), probably with hopes to be able to pitch them at lists with weak anti-air. What differ between them is a choice between extra Hive Crone or a Mawloc.
Sean Nayden goes a hybrid approach with solid ground presence.
I saw no fortifications for the Nid players, which makes me wonder a bit. How do they handle going second against Scatspam Eldar, or turn 1 dropping Cents with Tigerius? In ETC you of course try to get a favourable matchup (which is basically a game in itself), but still.
Leviathan and Skyblight detachments don't allow fortifications, so if you're set in that choice, you obviously cannot take a fort.
