Bobs Bugs: Conversions and Stuff (Update Jun 29)

So I lurk a lot. Favorite posts on sites are always the conversions. I do quite a bit of it myself. Over the cold winter here in Michigan, where I cant prime, I like to put stuff together. Here are some of my nids

Easy ones first. Need these guys, but also needed my Tyrannocytes.


Next is my Old one Eye. Bunch of different kits here and wanted bring in a little of the metal model.



Simple weapon swaps on my Buckies


I wanted a Malanthrope. I had a spare Carnifex and a lot of bits...



I also wanted a Barbed Hierodule. Not the biggest fan of the FW one, and saw a ton of great conversions here, so I made one. I think it should be close to the size, but not bulkiness of the FW one. Not sure.

That Hierodule. Man oh man, that Hierodule. I like the FW one quite a bit, but that is one terrifying model. Looks great

looking at the image, I think you made that with: 
the rupture cannon and head of a tervigon kit
mawloc lower jaw
and maleceptor.
plus the genestealer pucker things.
total cost (considering you probably used left over bits, I'll subtract about 95% of the price):
about 60 bucks, since you get a bunch of bitz left over from the exocrine to do other stuff with (like the malanthrope head.

Hi, thanks for the comments! Hhere is a rundown on what I used. Other than the Maleceptor, which I used as the base and then cannibalized for a bunch of other kits, pretty much everything was leftover bits. I did bits order the Tervigon legs for a few bucks. The guy really fills up the pie plate:
Head:
Tyrannofex Head, neck
Mawloc lower jaw
Spikes from 2 old barbed stranglers
top of head plate from Mawloc/Trygon
Green stuff

Body:
Maleceptor body and tail
Tervigon Legs
Carnifex scything talons (lower arms)
Carnifex crushing claws (upper arms)
Carnifex carapace plate (on the chest. hard to see)
Carnifex shoulder plates/spikes
2x Rupture cannons
Rupture cannon left arm
Trygon Tail spike
Green stuff

Thanks! Unfortunately, I will go about and ruin it with a paint job to match the rest of my army, which was made to get an army on the table as opposed to quality. Doesn't look bad, from a distance, but not something i would post, other than a "Here is my army" post

That always breaks my heart when doing decent conversions. But hey, I get to play with it.

Use washes and drybushing, it's super easy and saves time, while also looking good. Check out my project log for how I do mine.

Mine is pretty close to that. Here is about half of my painted stuff. Just need a little touch-up on these and their eyes. Got easily that much on my painting table right now, including some real big bugs.

You see correctly. In the back row, the Mawloc coming out of the hole is where it came from.
