Yet another twin-linked devourer

I'm working on a slightly different concept for my dakkafexen, using harpy weapon mounts as the base. I wanted something nicer than the spindly-armed stock TL devourers, and, although I like the Forge World ones just fine on my flyrant, something a bit heavier-looking seems warranted for the 'fex.

What thinkest the hive?

I can dig it, though it looks a bit gangster. They are nice conversions, but the arm part is a bit heavy for the carnifex's size. Would you consider whittling down some of the tubing, or clipping the joint a bit shorter where it meets the body to lighten up the look a bit?

I love the wet on the tongue, nice touch.

Yeah, the "yo, check out my piece" posture is a bit silly. When I magnetize/greenstuff, I'm planning to tuck them in closer to the body.

As far as the trimming down goes, quite possibly. I ordered a couple of sets of harpy weapons mounts, so I can experiment a bit with different options. I am shooting for the same generally beefy look as the wrecker claws, taking up both arm sockets on either side. Sort of a bipedal artillery piece aesthetic...

Is that what it is? Nice. I used a gloss finish on my haruspex's mouth. Yours has a real nice look and feel to it that I never was able to get.

Those harpy guns should be nice. I like taking up both the sockets, adds stability and you don't have to worry about finding some filler for the empty set.

I was quite surprised that this hadn't come up sooner. I have a 2 pairs of these for mine, but ever so slightly different. Just banged 2 magnets on per gun to fill both arm slots.

Definitely recommend to anyone else. Or at least i like them

Magnets are the answer to just about every question (less: should I magnetize toxin sacs on my 90 gaunts). Looking like that is already taken care of for magnets, so I reiterate the good idea of making complete load-outs (encompassing both arm slots) as one magnetic option. I'm sure most of us have enough bits laying around.

So, life intruded, but I took 10 minutes today to return to the prototype, whilst waiting for code to download. Grabbed some poster tack and started doing some preliminary modeling, figuring out where I'd want to lay the green stuff.


I'm not yet entirely happy with the join of the devourer heads to the body of the cannon, but it's not utterly dreadful.

Wait! does the TLD replace both scything talons?

One set replaced one set. So if you take one set of TL Devs, then you have them and one set of Scy Talons still.

The general consensus is to take two sets though, as a single set of talons does literally nothing for a Fex. If your ridiculously tight on points somehow, that would be the only time you would see one set of each really.

Mebbe. Given the whole multiples-of-six thing, I was thinking of three devourer heads per side. Or maybe four. Can't have too many, right? ;-)
